Lunch and Learn

Prescription Drug Safety for Seniors

Thursday, March 30

11 AM to 1:00 PM

CDAC Behavioral Health Care

3804 North 9th Avenue

If you are 55 or better, please join us for the March Lunch and Learn program at CDAC Behavioral Healthcare. Denise Manassa, the Director of Community Prevention, will present a workshop on "Prescription Drug Safety for Seniors."

Learn how to avoid becoming a statistic!

  • Did you know 40% of older adults 65+ take five or more medications?
  • Did you know one in six older adults may be at risk for harmful drug interactions?
  • Did you know older adults who fail to take their medications properly are 76% more likely to experience overall health decline?

Lunch participants will learn how to safely manage their prescription drugs by knowing, taking, and keeping their medications safe. Denise will also share tips on working with your doctor and pharmacist on medication management, plus what to do when medications are administered to you at the hospital.

This event is free for RSVP AmeriCorps members and their guests who are 55 and better. Pre-registration is requested.

Short Term Volunteer Opportunity

Tax season is in full swing. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program at United Way of West Florida could use more volunteers!

The current VITA volunteers, some of them RSVP members, are already doing amazing work to prepare taxes and secure refunds for our neighbors who might otherwise struggle to make ends meet. But there are so many others who could benefit from VITA's services.

Your help is needed to reach them. Previous experience is not required. The necessary training and IRS certification will be provided.
