October Membership Luncheon ft. Janet Johanson

Janet Johanson is the founder of BevSource. Janet is always looking for what's next and her passion has driven clients across North America and overseas to launch their beverage creations. Janet's commitment to excellence exists not only in the work place, but in the community, as evidenced by her volunteer work and mentoring. Her drive to fulfill the needs of the beverage industry resulted in The Lab — a place for makers and tasters to come together.

In 2019 BevSource launched The Lab, LLC, a first-of-its-kind pilot production and quality testing facility with an adjacent taproom where tasters and makers can co-create the next generation of innovative beverages. In 2020, Johanson also started the Black Business is Beautiful Market, an outdoor space where the local community can come together to purchase goods and services from BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) businesses on the second Saturday of each month outside The Lab.

Awarding $1 million in Grants to BIPOC Small Businesses
~SEEKING APPLICATIONS~

Comcast is awarding 100 small businesses owned by people of color, including Black, Indigenous, Hispanic, and Asian Americans owners, among others, in the Twin Cities, with $10,000 grants totaling $1 million to be distributed in late November.

We are thrilled to share the announcement of the Comcast RISE Investment Fund with you. On behalf of Comcast, thank you for your continued support of small businesses and the lives they touch every day. I invite you to spread the Comcast RISE grant announcement and link on your social media networks, newsletters, and web sites, as you see best, to ensure as many small business owners as possible are aware of this great opportunity. The press release is available here, for additional information.

The window to apply for the Comcast RISE Investment Fund is October 1 – 14, 2021. Recipients will be announced at the end of November. To qualify, grant applicants must have been in business for three or more years, employ a staff of between 1-25 employees, operate in the seven-county Twin Cities metro, and meet other Comcast RISE eligibility requirements, which is attached. This information is available in other languages, upon request, for your members.

Independent small businesses are the backbone of communities across the country. Today, more than ever, small businesses owned by people of color are hurting. We know that Comcast alone cannot remedy complex, systemic issues, but we are deeply committed to playing a role in driving change.
