Register for the 18th District Senior Citizen Law Enforcement Academy

The 18th District is accepting applications for the Senior Citizen Law Enforcement Academy, starting March 5, 2025. If you are interested in applying, please call 708-865-7341 (Sheriff's Office), or contact the CAPS office at 312-742-5778, and ask for Officer Nomellini.

You Are Invited to Join Alderman Reilly to March in the St. Patrick's Day Parade

The annual downtown St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held on Saturday, March 15 at 12:15pm. You are invited to join Alderman Reilly to march in the parade. Our float will be in Slot #42, which will be on East Balbo, west of North Columbus.


Due to street closures for the parade, we encourage you to arrive at Slot #42 at 11:15am to ensure access. Please click here to RSVP to march in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade with Alderman Reilly and his team.

Winter Parking Restrictions

If you see a posted sign that says ‘No Parking’ between 3:00 am and 7:00 am that means that the winter overnight parking ban is in effect on this street, whether it snows or not.


Do not park at this location between 3:00 am and 7:00 am from December 1, 2024 - April 1, 2025 or you will be ticketed or towed.

42nd Ward Traffic Closures & Construction Projects

Helicopter Lift: 320 North Dearborn Street


On Saturday, February 1, from 9am to 11am, there will be a helicopter lift at 320 N Dearborn Street. During the lift, the follow will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic:


  • Dearborn, from Wacker to Kinzie
  • Wacker, from State to Clark


676 North Michigan Avenue Façade Project


Redmond Construction was hired to complete a façade project at 676 North Michigan Avenue. Currently, the following closures are in-place:


  • Sidewalk on the south side of Huron, from Michigan Avenue to a point 150' west thereof
  • Curb lane on the south side of Huron, from Michigan Avenue to a point 150' west there of is being used as a pedestrian walkway
  • Partial sidewalk closure the west side of Michigan, from Huron to a point 100' south thereof


This project is expected to be completed by fall 2025.


Filming


Commercial


On Sunday, February 2nd, a commercial will be filming exterior scenes at 299 N LaSalle Dr and 400 W Monroe. During filming, parking will be prohibited at the following locations: 


  • Sunday, February 2nd from 5AM to 10:30AM:
  • North Side of Kinzie St from LaSalle Dr to Wells St
  • Sunday, February 2nd from 3PM to 6PM:
  • South Side of Monroe St from Clinton St to Canal St


Please note, that in addition there will be intermittent traffic control on LaSalle St bridge from Wacker Dr to Kinzie St between 5:30AM and 10:30AM as well as intermitted traffic control on Monroe St Bridge from Canal St to Wacker St between 3PM and 6PM.

Independent Film


On Sunday, February 2nd, a film will be filming interior scenes at 9 W Hubbard St. During filming, parking will be prohibited at the following locations: 


  • Sunday, February 2nd at 5:00 AM through 11:30 PM
  • South Side of Hubbard St from 9 to 25 W Hubbard.

Crane Lift: 77 W Wacker Drive


On Friday, February 7 to Sunday, February 9, (8am to 5pm) there will a crane lift at 77 W Wacker Drive. During the lift, the following will be closed,


  • Curb lane on the east side of east side of Clark, from Wacker to the first alley south thereof
  • All southbound traffic lanes on Clark, from Wacker to the first alley south thereof


The curb lane on the west side of the street will be used for southbound traffic.


Crane Lift: 157 W Grand Ave


On Saturday, February 8, 2025 a crane lift will take place to replace two units on the rooftop of 157 W Grand, resulting in a partial street closure from 8am - 5pm. One lane will remain open on Grand Ave during the lift. A backup day will be scheduled for Sunday, February 9, 2025.


River North Lighting Project


The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) has completed new light pole installation in the area bounded by Chicago, Ontario, Orleans, and the River. CDOT has begun removal of the old light poles and continues to restore infrastructure trenching.


Pin & Link Project on Randolph and Columbus


CDOT crews are scheduled to perform steel work and bridge expansion joint rehab along Randolph Street, Columbus Drive, and Stetson Avenue. Please see details below:


General Construction Schedule:

7:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday; with the occasional extension to 5:30 pm as needed. 

 

Scope of Work and Access Impacts During Construction:

In general, one lane of travel will be open at all times along each roadway, level, and direction. Access along sidewalks will remain open with detours around the work areas.  


This project is expected to be completed at the end of June 2025. Asphalt restoration will occur in July 2025.



Casino Demolition Update


The demolition team will begin site concrete crushing operations over the next eight weeks. The operation with run from 8 AM until 5 PM. The crusher will be placed in between the Ontario feeder ramp and the southern edge of the current building.
