Proudly supported by ORHMA, ECNG Energy Group, the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), the Culinary Federation, and Flanagan Foodservice, these webinars will offer expert advice and insights on a number of operational topics during this difficult time.

Webinar: Understanding your Electricity Bill, Usage, Costs and Opportunities to Save!

This special foodservice industry webinar will provide a detailed overview of a number of important details related to a restaurant’s electricity bill, electricity usage, electricity cost/consumption savings opportunities, and various incentive programs available to foodservice operators. Opportunities to reduce operational costs have never been more critical than today.


Paul Weingartner, CEA, CEM – Director of Client Services ECNG Energy Group & Robert Edwards, Business Advisor, Private Sector, Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO, will cover a series of important items such as: 


  • Reading your electricity bill and walking through its components to understand each line item
  • Important elements associated with electricity contracts
  • Overview of recent regulatory changes that have been implemented to assist businesses impacted by COVID-19
  • The Global Adjustment Charge for all consumers in Ontario and details on available pricing options and recommendations on how to best move forward
  • An update on the new 2021-2024 Save on Energy CDM Framework that was launched in January 2021
  • Information on incentives available in Ontario that will help restaurants not only save money on their electricity bills, but also lead to greater guest comfort/experience, employee health and safety, and reduced greenhouse gas emissions
  • Overview of available funding for ENERGY STAR® commercial kitchen equipment: lighting, HVAC, kitchen ventilation, refrigeration, as well as training in energy efficiency
  • Tips on how to operate your restaurant in the most energy-efficient way possible
  • Information related to next steps, including contact information of trusted Save on Energy representatives who are on contract with the IESO to assist you today

Paul Weingartner CEA, CEM Director, Client Services, ECNG Energy Group



For the past 20 years, Paul has worked to build Canada’s largest direct purchase program across multiple industry sectors including healthcare, manufacturing, multi-residential, and hospitality. Working closely with these industry partners and associations, Paul provides insight and guidance on all facets of market and regulatory affairs while yielding savings by driving costs out of the system. Paul is also the current Chair of the Corporate Advisory Council for the Canadian Healthcare Engineering Society (CHES).

Robert Edwards Business Advisor, Private Sector Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO)



Rob has been working in energy efficiency for over 12 years. In his current role as Business Advisor, Private Sector at the IESO, he maintains relationships with many of the largest commercial businesses in Ontario - primarily those that have multiple locations throughout the province. These include commercial real estate, retail, hospitality, foodservice, grocery and multi-unit residential. Working at the corporate level with a provincial focus, he provides strategies to help these organizations participate in the many Save on Energy for business incentive programs as well as related programs offered by the IESO.

Fatima Finnegan Director of Corporate Marketing & Business Development, Ontario Restaurant Hotel & Motel Association (ORHMA)


Fatima Finnegan is the Director of Corporate Marketing & Business Development with the Ontario Restaurant Hotel & Motel Association (ORHMA) since 1999. ORHMA is the largest provincial hospitality association in Canada, representing 4,000 members and 11,000 foodservice and accommodation establishments in Ontario. An Ontario hospitality leader with over 30 years of industry experience and a proven track record with positive contributions to the hospitality industry, her extensive hospitality management background provided her with experience from Holiday Inns, Venture Inns, Crowne Plaza, Travelodge Hotels, and Quality Inn properties. This experience led her to teach for a number of years at Humber College of Applied Arts & Technology. Fatima's areas of influence, knowledge, and experience are in accessibility and energy. Assisting hospitality operators in the province with regulatory compliance and strategic application to their operations is key. Other areas of experience include labour, environment, and tourism. Fatima is fluent in three languages (English, French, and Portuguese) and attempts to make Irish her fourth official language. Fatima resides in Simcoe County with her husband Brian. They are proud parents of Kalene, who is also making her way in the hospitality industry.
