2022 COMPETITION COURSE DETAILS


PHASE ONE: SHOOTING COMPONENT 


There will be 15 stands with targets. Stands 1 through 14 will be with balloons. Blue balloons will be friendly and are not to be shot. Only orange balloons will be shot. Stand 15 will be 6 steel plates 6 inches in diameter.


  • Targets 1 and 2 will be engaged from the starting point.
  • Target 1 will be fired upon at a distance of 35 yards.
  • Target 2 will be fired upon at a distance of 25 yards.
  • Competitor will then advance to target 2 and engage target 3 at 7 yards.
  • Once target 3 has been engaged, competitor will then advance to target 3 and engage target 4 at 3 yards.
  • After target 4 has been engaged, competitor will then advance to target 4 and engage target 5 at a distance of 8 yards.
  • After target 5 has been engaged, competitor will advance to target 5 and engage target 6 at a distance at a distance of 2 yards.
  • Competitor will then advance to target 6 and engage target 7 at a distance of 25 yards.
  • Competitor will then advance to target 7 and engage target 8 at a distance of 10 yards.
  • After target 8 has been engaged, competitor will advance to target 8 and engage target 9 at a distance of 5 yards.
  • Competitor will then advance to target 9 and engage target 10 at a distance of 7 yards.
  • Competitor will then advance to target 10 and engage target 11 at a distance of 20 yards.
  • Competitor will then advance to target 11 and engage target 12 at seven yards and target 13 at 15 yards.
  • After both targets have been engaged, competitor will advance to target 13 and engage target 14 at 25 yards.
  • Competitor will then advance to target 14 and engage target 15 at a distance of 15 yards, which will be six steel plates with competitor's handgun only.


Additional Notes:

  • Once all steel plates have been shot, competitor will have completed this portion of the competition.
  • When engaging these targets, competitor will be moving down range at a pace determined by them at various angles.


Scoring System:

The scoring system for this portion of the competition will be as follows:


  • There will be 25 orange balloons with a value of five points per orange balloon with a total of 125 points.
  • There will be 20 blue balloons with a value of 5 points. For every blue balloon that competitor's shoot, 5 points will be deducted from competitor's total score.
  • Competitor will also be timed and individual with the best time and most points will be the winner of this section.


PHASE TWO: SHOOT HOUSE COMPONENT

Phase two of the competition will be the competitor clearing five rooms with their rifle in the Sauk County Sheriff’s Department Shoot House. Please note:


  • Frangible ammunition will be provided. 
  • The competitor will be tasked again with shoot or don’t shoot targets. 
  • These targets will either be armed or unarmed people in the rooms.
  • This portion of the competition will not be timed however if you shoot an unarmed civilian you will be deducted five points per occurrence. This will be deducted from your score of the first portion of the competition.


In the event of a tie, there will be a shoot off at the steel targets with competitor's handgun at 15 yards. The competitor with the fastest time will be the winner of this section. 


Overall winners will be determined by phase one and two scores combined.

ADDITIONAL RULES


  • All competitors must wear a bullet proof vest when competing, as well as eye and ear protection.
  • Attire will be at competitor’s discretion. Uniform not required.
  • Handgun must be suitable for law enforcement.
  • Rifle must be 22 caliber centerfire or larger. 
  • Suppressors, bipods, shooting sticks and slings as well as any other rests are allowed. However they must be carried during competition.
  • With the steel targets, competitor will be required to use a handgun. 
  • For all other targets, it will be the competitor's discretion as to whether they should use a handgun or rifle. 
  • It will also be the competitor's discretion as to how much ammunition as well as magazines for each respective weapon.
  • A flashlight is recommended for the shoot house as well.
  • Competitor WILL NOT compete in the order that they register. Competitor’s name will be placed in a hat and drawn to determine the order in which they compete.  
  • Competitor must be a client of the Wisconsin County Mutual Insurance Corporation or Community Insurance Corporation.
  • Only (1) one competitor is allowed per department. However, there is no limit to attendees from a department.
  • Lunch will be provided to all attendees.

PRIZE STRUCTURE


Department Awards

The top three competitor's departments will receive a check made out to the department to be used at their discretion.  


  • 1st Place: $10,000
  • 2nd Place: $8,000
  • 3rd Place: $6,000

 

Individual Awards

Competitors will receive a check from Wisconsin County Mutual Insurance Corporation/Community Insurance Corporation, along with a plaque. A 1099 will be issued at a later date.


  • 1st Place: $1,200
  • 2nd Place: $1,000
  • 3rd Place: $800
