We will then come back together for a conversation as people of faith. After another painful year watching racial injustice unfold across our country, we know these issues face our congregations and their members. This assembly invites us as people of faith to begin to address the complex issues regarding policing and public safety that are daily in our news. Our guest presenter, Elle Dowd (A recent graduate from the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago) will share her own story and experiences that have led her to write a book on this topic.
Ms. Dowd is an experienced facilitator who will help us navigate these conversations that matter in our own communities. As Christians called to love our neighbors, let us wrestle with our history and our present, allowing God, through us, to usher justice and peace into our world. After her presentation, we will use breakout rooms to share our own perspectives and discuss aspects of community safety that matter most to us. We hope this time is relevant, engaging, and constructive for our entire synod.
Spanish, Mandarin, and ASL translation will be provided
