The West Baltimore National Conference on Community Development brings together indigenous community development leaders, organizers, practitioners and organizations that are interested in rebuilding broken community development systems, diversifying peer practitioners and professionals, developing innovative new models, structures and strategies to regenerate disinvested and under resourced communities.
Community development in under resourced communities will not happen in a vacuum, it will take a conscious coordinated approaches to economic development, building capacity of placed based organizations, supporting the emergence of local small business, developing innovative strategies to expand educational practices, implementing collaborative public safety approaches, investing in health care and integrating transit networks.
At this conference, we anticipate participants finding out how integral pathways to opportunity can create vibrant neighborhoods through developing new principle based community development practices as a means for building sustainable place-based community programs and projects.
