Delta Invasive Species Symposium

Registration is now open for the sixth biennial Delta Invasive Species Symposium on December 4, 2025. The event, which is co-sponsored by the Delta Stewardship Council, will be held in a hybrid format at the California Natural Resources Agency headquarters in downtown Sacramento and via Zoom from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

The Symposium is free to attend and open to anyone interested in the impacts of invasive species in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta region. For both in-person and virtual attendance options, please register here.

The biennial Symposium serves as a forum for Delta managers, researchers, and decision-makers to meet, share insights, synthesize information, and communicate best practices and lessons learned. This year’s theme is “Modeling and Managing Invasive Species for Tomorrow’s Delta.” It will broadly address the management of the future Delta through presentations that highlight modeling, future environmental conditions, innovative tools and approaches, and methods for dealing with uncertainties.

Did you know the Delta is among the world’s most invaded estuaries?

Invasive species are non-native species whose introduction causes or is likely to cause harm to economies, the environment, or human health. At least 185 non-native species are currently present, and new species will likely continue to arrive. You can learn more about individual species on the Delta Conservancy’s invasive species web page.

About the DIISC Team

The DIISC Team was formed in 2013 to foster communication and collaboration among California state agencies that detect, prevent, and manage invasive species and restore invaded habitats in the Delta. It includes state agency program managers and scientists, and benefits from participation by research, conservation groups, and other interested parties. The DIISC Team also has involvement from key federal agencies.
