Registration Open:
Delta Invasive Species Symposium

The Delta Interagency Invasive Species Coordination (DIISC) Team invites managers, researchers, and decision-makers in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta to meet, share and synthesize information, and communicate best practices and lessons learned at its biennial Symposium.

Hosted virtually on December 15, 2021, this year’s Symposium will focus on early detection of and rapid response (EDRR) to invasive species. It will consist of invited talks and a panel discussion on past, present, and future EDRR efforts, challenges, and solutions for the Delta and beyond. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the DIISC Team's draft Delta EDRR Framework.
non-native species whose introduction causes or is likely to cause harm to economies, the environment, or human health. The Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta is among the world’s estuaries most-invaded by non-native species. At least 185 non-native species are currently present and new species will likely continue to arrive.
The purpose of the DIISC Team is to foster communication and collaboration among California State agencies, federal agencies, research and conservation groups, and other stakeholders that detect, prevent, and manage invasive species and restore invaded habitats in the Delta.
The Council was created to align decision-making in the Delta with science. In the face of climate change, this connection is more important than ever. Progress requires bringing the right people together to implement timely, science-based solutions.
