Offering Comfort: Bringing Our Best Ideas for Supporting Survivors Experiencing Mental Health Challenges

In our advocacy, it can be difficult to confidently respond to the many different ways survivors experience mental health challenges, distress, and crisis. This workshop offers practical strategies for being proactive, compassionate, and responsive to individual needs for physical and emotional safety. Participants are invited to share experiences, successes, and concerns as we explore opportunities for survivor centered support.

Objectives:

  • Participants will explore their concerns and successes with addressing mental health challenges, distress, and crisis that arise in our work.
  • Participants will gain a tool to assist survivors and advocates to collaboratively create proactive strategies that support emotional safety.
  • Participants will gain strategies for shifting approaches, environments, and relationships to elevate emotional safety.
