Understanding the Child Welfare System for Child Advocates

Please join us virtually for Understanding the Child Welfare System for Child Advocates on February 7-8, 2023!

The Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ICADV) offers an annual trauma-informed children's services training, and the specific topic covered in the training changes year to year. This year, the training will help child advocates better understand the child welfare system to improve services to survivors of domestic violence and their children.

Through this training, attendees will:

Gain a thorough comprehension of the law, practice and procedure of the Illinois child welfare system through a trauma-informed lens.
Understand the nuances of each part of the child welfare system, from best practice to mandated reporting to DCFS investigations to juvenile court cases.
Understand how the child welfare system impacts families experiencing domestic violence and gain strategies for advocating for and supporting families involved in the child welfare system.

Registration for each ICADV hosted training will open one month before the registration deadline. The deadlines can be found on our FY23 Training Institute Schedule. No registrations will be accepted after the published registration deadline. Each individual must register through our website to reserve a seat for the desired training. ICADV will provide support via email or phone for any one facing any technical difficulties. Dates and times of trainings are subject to change at ICADV's discretion with advanced notice.
