WINTER BASKETBALL
Final week of Skills Assessments this week.
We ask that every participant make an effort to attend at least one of these sessions. These sessions are important for the determination of balanced team rosters across all of our divisions for the upcoming GVBL season. Please make an effort to get over to GWES this week. Download a Skills Assessment Schedule.
Can you volunteer some time?
As is the case every GVBL winter basketball season, we are undoubtebly going to be short a couple of volunteers in each division. Consider helping out coaching you daughter/son this coming season. If you have volunteered already, drag you neighbor into the mix and get them to help you coach. It's only 2-3 hour of volunteer time a week and its a ton of fun coaching the kids. Reach out to basketball@gvco.org if you can give the time
Siddant Suresh Scholarship Fund.
If you are currently struggling financially for whatever reason but you want to see your kids stay involved? Please consider the Siddant Suresh Scholarship Fund.

GVCO Community Partnership

Philadelphia is the nation's poorest big city with nearly 300,000 children living in poverty across the region. Cradles 2 Crayons Philadelphia has a reach that goes well beyond the borders of the city itself.
|

Chester County, including the Malvern area, is included in the region in which C2C is having an impact. GVCO is once again partnering with C2C, hosting our 3rd Annual Donation Drive. Reaching out to our Great Valley community in an effort to help those right here in our area.
Part of C2C's mission: "Our whole focus is to make our collaborative process as easy and streamlined as possible. This helps us to empower the children we serve collaboratively — at home, at school, and at play — by providing the everyday essentials that match their individual needs." GVCO's reach here in the community, coupled with C2C's ability to reach those in need is the perfect partnership for our GVCO Caring Hands foundation.
Childhood poverty is a serious nationwide issue and the local area is not immune. Without adequate and appropriate clothing, children face unfair barriers and participate in life on an unequal playing field. Cradles to Crayons uses the term “Clothing Insecurity” as part of our efforts to formally recognize the issue, and increase awareness on this hidden basic need.
GVCO is proud to be partnering with such a worthy organization in helpng C2C reach its inspiring mission and goals.

THE STONE BASE COURSE FOR THE DRIVEWAY & UPPER PARKING LOT HAS BEEN INSTALLED
For 3 straight days last week, Charlestown Paving worked to get the drive/upper parking lot installed. What seemed like 100 truckloads of material were delivered, leveled and than rolled. The picture above is taken from the back of the site from behind the practice field. The pad for the building is on the left. The driveway down to Bacton Hill Rd can be seen at the far end.

The time is NOW.... Together we can make it happen!
We need your help to finish what we've started! We will not get the necessary financing to complete the project without raising additional funds.

"Yes, count us all in!"
How lucky are we to have a new community center in our area?! GVCO has been a part of our lives since our children used to play hoops at GVBL over 15 years ago. The camaraderie and good spirits in that gym were refreshing and seeing the kids grow into a sport they liked made it so enjoyable.
|
|
In 2019, we were able to participate in and volunteer our time when GVCO introduced Pickleball. Over 200 players got involved and had a blast learning and playing the game and participating in other GVCO programming as well as the Caring Hands Foundation.
We cannot wait for the new center and the new pickleball courts! We are thrilled that the building will house many sports, programs, and activities that benefit the community. The new center is a true labor of love for the many parents and volunteers who have given so much of their time and effort to the project.
If you have not already done so, please help the cause and donate today so we can all benefit from all that GVCO has available. Let's make GVCO the place to go!

GVCO was recently nominated and awarded a $1000 contribution from the Mattioni Cares Program.
For over seventy years, Mattioni Plumbing, Heating & Cooling has proudly served the Chester County area. Not only do they provide professional services, but they genuinely care about the community they serve. The Mattioni Care’s Program was started to recognize local organizations, charities, and youth sports programs for the excellent work they do in the community. Mattioni Plumbing, Heating & Cooling knows that this type of programming helps positively impact the community and, in turn, wants to reward those groups for the good that they do.
