Registration is Now Open for CPI Webinar Entitled “Rural Mental Health in New York State”

Please join us for this important webinar, “Rural Mental Health in New York State”, led by Tony Trahan from the NYS Office of Mental Health scheduled for Tuesday, October 29 from 3pm - 4pm.

The presentation will discuss the unique challenges of providing behavioral health services within rural culture(s) and focus on the disparities between rural and urban physical and behavioral health services. Availability, accessibility and acceptability are three important concepts that will be examined. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of utilizing existing community strengths and resources within rural and remote parts of NYS. Helpful resources will be identified.


You will earn a certificate for participating in this webinar. CEUs will not be provided.

 

Tony Trahan started working at the Office of Mental Health in 2006 as an Advocacy Specialist in the Office of Consumer Affairs. In 2014, he became Deputy Director of the Office of Consumer Affairs and held that position until September of 2023.

Prior to his employment at OMH, Tony was the program coordinator at a local shelter for the homeless for 10 years, and then worked as a case manager for a housing program in rural Rensselaer County. In August of 2023, Tony became OMH’s Rural Mental Health Coordinator, focusing on the unique needs of the residents in New York’s 41 rural and frontier counties.
