Register for the 2025 Partners for Advancing Health Equity Summit

We are excited to announce that registration is now open for the 2025 Partners for Advancing Health Equity Summit, December 3-5 in Montgomery, AL, where we will also host Ways of Knowing working sessions. These interactive sessions will provide time to reflect upon and refine a Ways of Knowing Action Plan, as well as engage in power-building activities to support implementation. We’ve reached this point thanks to your contributions, and we’d love for you to join us in shaping the next stages of this work.

The Summit will offer a backdrop for reflection, inviting participants to consider how place, history, and community leadership can inform national strategies for health equity. The Summit is hosted in partnership with Alabama State University, ensuring that both national expertise and local community perspectives shape the experience. We’re proud to co-sponsor the summit along with Community Campus Partnerships for Health and Transforming Academia for Equity.

Second Round of Rapid Response Research Funding Closed

As of October 1, 2025, the CFP for our second round of Rapid Response Research: Reinvesting in Racial and Indigenous Health Equity Research is closed. Applicants will be notified of review committee decisions the week of November 17, 2025.

From our first round of Rapid Response Research call for proposals, approximately $2 million in funding was awarded to 15 projects.

For both rounds, we recognize the challenges many in the health equity research community are facing due to shifts in federal funding. We deeply appreciate the time, thought, and dedication reflected in every submission. Thank you to everyone who submitted an application and for your continued commitment to advancing health equity.

What We're Watching

Big Data, Real Impact: Lessons from HD4A

Big data can hold the answers to some of our toughest health policy questions, but these datasets can be hard-to-acquire for health equity researchers. For the past ten years, Health Data for Action (HD4A) has been connecting researchers with the owners of big datasets that are usually out of reach. In an interview video series with staff, grantees, and data providers, HD4A reflects how democratized data generates insights to create fairer, more effective health solutions that work for everyone.

SNAP Work Requirements Reversal and Program Enrollment

In response to concerns that the availability of safety net benefits discourages people from working, the federal government and some states plan to expand work requirements for certain programs, including the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) and Medicaid. The study team set out to further examine a natural experiment wherein Connecticut imposed and then reversed SNAP work requirements for some residents but not others, learning that work requirement implementation may have lasting detrimental effects that are difficult to reverse.
