A Killing Fields Survivor and Former Devout Buddhist

God has Sitha Dourng Doing a Mighty Work with CCI Cambodia
Greetings!

We want to tell you a remarkable, inspiring story about Cambodian National Sitha Dourng, a key CCI equipping leader. God is working through him, and your partnership has helped make it happen.

According to a recent study, the nation of Cambodia is 97.9% Buddhist. It's easy to see why Cambodia's greatest need, which CCI meets head-on every day, is equipping Cambodian pastors and church leaders to lead local churches and multiply disciples.
Sitha with Yorm Sang, a young man he has mentored and equipped – one of 216. Your support allowed Yorm to learn much, including transformational stewardship lessons.
Further, in the late 1970s, Cambodia experienced a horrific genocide. Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge massacred 2.5 million people. Every family in Cambodia suffered the death of a loved one. Nearly half of the population, who had education, spoke another language, or wore prescription glasses, were murdered and thrown into rice fields. It was a terrible moment in the history of Cambodia.
One horrendous example of just some of the 2.5 million victims killed in Cambodia in the late 1970s.
Sitha Dourng’s family was not spared. He was born during this time as his family relocated from northwest to northeast Cambodia. Even when his family did not know Jesus Christ, God had His hand in their move. Later in the early 1990s, the country shed its communist leanings and became a kingdom again.
Since Sitha joined the CCI team, he has helped equip 3,372 students from 231 classes, including people from 2 different countries and 90 individuals from unreached people groups (UPGs). In 2021, Sitha planted 1 new church and led a God's Financial Principles seminar (Crown Financial materials) resulting in 28 graduates. Currently, he oversees 24 BTCP classes and 289 students.”

Now, in his early 40s, Sitha was saved in 1996 through a New Tribes missionary who shared the Gospel with him. He grew up, not surprisingly, in a devout Buddhist family, and his parents kicked him out of the home after he was saved.

He then stayed with the missionary and was discipled by him. Sitha went to Phnom Penh Bible College, where he met his wife, Srey Nit.

In 2011, I met Sitha at a Teacher Training Workshop and saw Sitha’s giftedness and potential for training and equipping others for ministry. I told the CCI coordinator at that time that Sitha was a great prospect to serve with Crossing Cultures International as a coordinator. Sitha started a class in his church, and relatively soon afterward, he joined CCI in 2012 and has been with us since then.

You don’t want to miss the Sitha Story Part 2 in two weeks and learn how Sitha is reaching Cambodia in new and significant ways on a mass scale.

How can we do more for Jesus? How can we train, equip, and multiple more leaders like Sitha?

Just as our trained leaders become multipliers, CCI's Big Vision is also to multiply – to DOUBLE – from 10,000 equipped leaders to 20,000! We can do that in just five years AND at a very low cost.
Make an investment that will last for eternity.
Thank you so much for your prayerful consideration. We greatly appreciate your partnership in ministry.

Grace and Peace,

David Nelson
