 A Life in Balance: Delicious,

Plant-Based Recipes for Optimal Health

is my cookbook, published last fall by Down East Books. It's packed with healthy, plant-based recipes that are easy and delicious. I've also included some tips for getting and staying healthy.

Plant-based diet expert T. Colin Campbell, Ph.D., wrote the foreword, and Olympic gold runner Joan Benoit Samuelson - a fellow Mainer - wrote the preface. The book's many contributors include Veganist Kathy Freston, NBA champ John Salley and Engine 1 Diet author Rip Esselstyn. Order A Life In Balance here!

Becoming Whole:
The Story of My Complete  Recovery from Breast Cancer
is the book I wish had existed when I was going through bone and then breast cancer.
T. Colin Campbell, Ph.D. (see above) also wrote the foreword to this book.  I hope my story inspires you on your own journey to excellent health. THIS WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!

Tom & Toby Monte
Many people ask me where I recommend that they go to learn about healing. For a heart-center approach to healing your life, your illness and your relationships (or all three), I highly recommend Tom Monte's Healer program. This is the BEST comprehensive approach and many people that take this course go on to become healers themselves.

I've known Tom Monte for over 10 years (he coauthored my first book). He is also a medical writer and he has writtenover 30 books. I've studied with him in his Healer program in NYC for the past two years. This is a year long course of study held over a long weekend each month from Sept. through April. I loved it SO much that I signed on for a second year!

My daughter, Cammie & my husband Tom have also taken the Healer course.

The Tom Monte Healer course is based on, "traditional healing arts, such as Chinese Medicine; from both traditional and scientific approaches to diet, nutrition, and herbalism; from modern scientific research into the origins and recovery from illness; and from Tom Monte's three decades of experience in teaching and counseling people to better health and healthier and happier relationships."

If you've been thinking of taking this course but you have been "on the fence" I highly encourage you to do it this September as Tom is in high demand and I predict that his future classes may not be as intimate as our previous group of 15-18 students. Tom Monte is an amazing (and humble) teacher! Every loves Tom Monte ...

   Laetitia's Champagne Smoothie

My friend and raw foods chef, Latitia Cerou, makes the most beautiful food and drinks. No surprise that she also comes from France where attention to detail and beauty are indigenous to the culture.

Laetitia wrote, "My favorite amped-up morning juice lately looks and almost tastes like wine! For the base: celery, cucumber, beet, cherries, romaine, lemon and tarragon. Mmm...  Adding Madre Labs Super Immune Punch and Midori Greens formulas plus a few drops of sangre de grado (dragon's blood) for my pre-Bikram yoga session. Feeling like an alchemist!"

Laetitia's recipe:For 2 to 4 people (varies depending on the size of the vegetables)

Run through the juicer:
1 head of celery (leaves removed)
1 cucumber
1 beet
1/2 head of romaine lettuce
1 cup cherries (pitted)
1/2 lemon
3 stems tarragon

Pour the juice in a shaker and add:
1 scoop (4 grams) of Madre Labs Immune Punch formula per person
5 drops of

Shake well. Pour in a glass.

Optional:
Sprinkle the juice with bee pollen (fresh, if possible) and garnish with a physalis.
For extra health-enhancing properties and energy boost (such as before a workout session), add 1 scoop (3 grams) of Madre Labs Midori Greens formula per person to the shaker.

Enjoy! Thank you, Laetitia.
