Ventura, Calif. — The City of Ventura invites community members to attend a public workshop for the Buenaventura Golf Course flood mitigation redesign project on Thursday, June 19, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the Community Meeting Room at Ventura City Hall, located at 501 Poli Street.
The workshop will feature a presentation by City staff and project consultants, including golf course architects, hydrology engineers, and FEMA reimbursement specialists. Attendees will learn about four potential redesign concepts, each with projected costs, revenue impacts, and enhanced flood mitigation proposals.
Following the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to provide input on four redesign options and take part in a live Q&A session. Community feedback collected during this workshop will be shared with the Ventura City Council to help guide the discussion of redesign options.
“Buenaventura is a treasured public amenity, and we’re committed to prioritizing flood resilience and long-term sustainability,” said Stacey Zarazua, Parks & Recreation Director. “Resident feedback assists the City Council in determining the best path forward.”
The workshop will be recorded and posted online. For those unable to attend, two additional opportunities for public comment will be available:
Special Meeting of the Parks & Recreation Commission
- Wednesday, June 25, 4:00 p.m.
- Ventura City Hall, Community Meeting Room (in-person public comment only)
Regular City Council Meeting
- Tuesday, July 8, 5:00 p.m.
- Ventura City Hall, Council Chambers (in-person and virtual public comment)
Please note that while these meetings include the same presentation, the design feedback activity will only be conducted at the June 19 workshop.
