Ventura Calif. – Gina Dorrington has been named Ventura Water’s new General Manager, replacing Susan Rungren, who retired in late May 2022.
“After serving as Ventura Water’s Assistant General Manager since 2019, we are looking forward to Gina’s extensive expertise in leading the helm of continuing to secure our vital water supplies and wastewater operations,” shared City Manager Alex D. McIntyre.
Gina has been in the water and wastewater industry for over 20 years and joined the City in 2014. She has experience in operating and managing water and wastewater infrastructure ranging from 100-year-old technology to advanced purification technology and performing groundwater remediation for Environmental Protection Agency superfund sites.
“Ventura Water is dedicated to providing reliable water services, investing in the maintenance and improvement of its vital infrastructure and equipping residents to be drought resilient,” shared Ventura Water General Manager Gina Dorrington. “I am honored to serve as the general manager for Ventura Water and help lead our organization as we look to expand the City’s water portfolio through investments in the State Water Interconnection project and VenturaWaterPure program.”
Gina has also worked in the private contracting industry as a Regional Safety and Compliance Manager, overseeing water and wastewater system compliance and safety. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Soil Science from Cal Poly Pomona as well as multiple certifications in water distribution, wastewater treatment, and environmental compliance.
