Northern Sky Theater announces the addition of Heidi Ling to their Board of Directors.
Wisconsin Arts Board Grant
Northern Sky Theater is pleased to announce that it has received a matching grant of $11,500 from the Wisconsin Arts Board. This grant supports Northern Sky's commitment to writing and developing new works of musical theater tailored for the company's unique multi-generational audiences.

State grants are awarded through a competitive process. The Wisconsin Arts Board works to foster the quality of life, the effectiveness of arts in education, and the evolution of our State's creative economy. This grant indicates that Northern Sky provides a high level of quality in its programs, community outreach and administration and is a mainstay of the tourism economy in Door County.
"With the support of the Wisconsin Arts Board, this summer Northern Sky will add two new musicals to our cannon of over 50 world premieres," stated Managing Director, Dave Maier. "Creating new works for our audiences and nurturing writers, composers, and performers is the lifeblood of our work."
"Northern Sky's artistic mission is to create a body of regionally relevant work unparalleled by any other troupe, while simultaneously advancing the craft of the American musical," stated Artistic Director, Jeffery Herbst. "At the same time, Northern Sky is dedicated to presenting shows at affordable ticket prices, ensuring that tens of thousands of families can continue to enjoy original, regionally themed musicals for years to come."
Wisconsin Arts Board grants are awarded on a matching basis. Organizations that receive Arts Board funds are required to match state tax dollars with additional public and private funds. The Wisconsin Arts Board is the state agency that nurtures creativity, cultivates expression, promotes the arts, supports the arts in education, stimulates community and economic development and serves as a resource for people of every culture and heritage in Wisconsin's communities.

New Board of Directors Member
Northern Sky Theater announces the addition of Heidi Ling to their Board of Directors.
A licensed attorney and graduate of Lawrence University and UW Law School, Heidi Ling has been involved in non-profit leadership for more than 15 years. She has been involved in organizations such as HIS House, a residence for homeless families, City of Hope Southern California, Orange Lutheran High School, Troy High School Education Foundation, several school councils and a homeowners association. She's held positions from President, Executive Committee, Gala Event Executive, and Capital Campaign VP.
Heidi and her husband, Bob, are the parents of Robert, Casey and Madeline. Her parents, Richard and Charlotte Johnston, live in Ephraim. All three generations of her family have enjoyed Northern Sky shows over the years while camping in Peninsula State Park.

"As a child camping with my parents and brother in Peninsula Park, we would hike over to the show 'in the woods' and sing snippets from the show on the way back to the campsite," stated Heidi. "That family tradition started in 1970 and continues with my husband and three kids to the present day. Our son, Robert, was even a Northern Sky volunteer intern in high school. I am honored and excited to play a greater role in the wonderful things going on at Northern Sky."
"We are delighted to welcome Heidi's leadership to Northern Sky Theater as we move into this exciting next chapter in our company's growth," added board chairperson, Mary Seeberg.
