Funding from the state and private organizations plays an important role in the Wisconsin's artistic and economic health.
Wisconsin Arts Board Grant
Northern Sky Theater is pleased to announce that it has received a matching grant of $11,000 from the Wisconsin Arts Board. This grant supports Northern Sky's commitment to writing and developing new msuicals tailored for the company's unique multi-generational audiences.

State grants are awarded through a competitive process. The Wisconsin Arts Board works to foster the quality of life, the effectiveness of arts in education, and the evolution of our State's creative economy. This grant indicates that Northern Sky provides a high level of quality in its programs, community outreach and administration and is a mainstay of the tourism economy in Door County.
"With the support of the Wisconsin Arts Board, this season Northern Sky will add two new musicals to our cannon of over 50 world premieres," stated Managing Director, Dave Maier. "Creating new works for our audiences and nurturing writers, composers, and performers is the lifeblood of our work."
"Northern Sky's artistic mission is to create a body of regionally relevant work unparalleled by any other troupe, while simultaneously advancing the craft of the American musical," stated Artistic Director, Jeffery Herbst. "At the same time, Northern Sky is dedicated to presenting shows at affordable ticket prices, ensuring that tens of thousands of families can continue to enjoy original, regionally themed musicals for years to come."
Wisconsin Arts Board grants are awarded on a matching basis. Organizations that receive Arts Board funds are required to match state tax dollars with additional public and private funds. The Wisconsin Arts Board is the state agency that nurtures creativity, cultivates expression, promotes the arts, supports the arts in education, stimulates community and economic development and serves as a resource for people of every culture and heritage in Wisconsin's communities.

Green Bay Packers Foundation Grant
Northern Sky Theater is pleased to announce that it has received a grant of $5,000 from the Green Bay Packers Foundation. This grant supports the development of Northern Sky's new musical "Dad's Season Tickets" premiering in the fall of 2019.
The Green Bay Packers Foundation has been giving back to Wisconsin's communities since it was established in 1986 by Judge Robert J. Parins, then president of Green Bay Packers, Inc. "as a vehicle to assure continued contributions to charity."  It is a component of Green Bay Packers Give Back, the all-encompassing community outreach initiative.
On Dec. 5, the foundation awarded $800,000 to 230 civic and charitable groups throughout the state of Wisconsin that were selected through a grant application process. This year, the foundation focused on arts, culture, athletics and education causes.
"Dad's Season Tickets," written by Matt Zembrowski, is a nostalgic musical celebration of family, folly and the Green Bay Packers. The fall world premiere will be performed at Northern Sky's new Creative Center with an extended run through the end of October.
Zembrowski writes, "I knew I'd never make it as a running back, so I had to write my way onto the Packers payroll. Seriously, I'm so very grateful for this support!"
