Apparently this is was 10.43 lbs of "bye-bye" looks like! That's Randy Steciuk sending her off for the next lucky person to catch. #Perfection

"I almost have a car lot now."
Here's a little before-and-after snap thx to the Grand Forks County Water Rescue team using Brad's find as a training exercise:
Couple updates on that specific car from Brad:
> "The car was a 2002 Cadillac Seville SLS. It was last registered in 2006. It was never reported stolen or missing.
> "This proves that Humminbird Side Imaging is the real deal. Many folks from my last post said they thought this car was a Cadillac. Here is the proof.
> "The side images were shot with a Helix 10 G2N with the gain set at 9, screen speed at 5 and I imaged parallel to the current of the river at 2.5-3 mph."
Amazing. π Thx for sharing with the rest of us, Brad! (Yes the car was empty!)
Gotta share one more of his screenshots 'cuz the clarity is incredible:

Btw if we were ever going to do a Target Catfish π€ I'd be head-hunting Brad asap lol.

Gravel lizard of the week!
1) Crazy THICK one (30") my bud Jake Caughey and his partner landed on day 2 of the David A Andersen Warrior Boats "Walleye Shootout" on Lake of the Woods. Wow!
> Jake: "I was sworn to secrecy on the bait but it was on the gravel-to-mud transition. I'm glad I was in a tiller to prevent the surging too bad because we were trolling in solid 5-6 footers. Running lead and paying attention to the small details really helped.
> Sometimes I think doing crappy the first day of a 2-day tourney makes you analyze your program even more and helps you become a better angler...if you're humble and can be critical of yourself, and admit you maybe need to break a bad habit or look at it from another angle."
No doubt. πππ
2) Brad Petersen guides and fishes tournaments all over CO. He's been getting some absolute behemoths from small lakes in the Denver area β all on Rapala Jigging Raps β and has had numerous fish over 10 lbs, including this 12-pack!

It's a little early to be talking about ice fishing, but I can't hear the words "Devils Lake, ND" and not start daydreaming about plucking jumbo perch thru the hard stuff. It'll be here before we know it β crazy.
We've mentioned frog-eating walleyes before...
β¦'cuz folks have literally been doing it for decades. Remember this wild shot from South Dakota Fishing Guide of a fall walleye gettin' its Frogger on?! And you wonder why they won't eat your fathead:
Obviously there's lots of frog-pattern baits in topwater lures, crankbaits, etc...but now check out this sick new πΈ pattern Clam's coming out with in their Tikka Mino:
Time for some walleye arts & crafts.
Think I've broke off on that biggun a few times now.
It's called the Jiffy Ice Scout β not a whole lot of info out there on it yet, but the video says it drills a 2.5" hole and has a measuring device on the side for checking ice thickness.
Could also be nice for saving battery juice when scouting with underwater cameras. And I know a few folks that could use one so they stop blaming their transducer cable on losing fish hahaha.
Reminder that Brunswick, a public company, owns Lund, Merc, MotorGuide, Lowrance and a bunch of other boat-y brands.
Makers of the original mushroom-head jig. Little background on the new owners:
> Ray Stephens and his long-time girlfriend, Stacey Manitz, have worked 30+ yrs in the manufacturing sector. They also share a passion for fishing. When the opportunity to purchase Gopher Tackle Mfg. in 2020 came up, the time was right to switch gears and follow their dreams.
> Ray and Stacey moved the business to Milford, IA in 2021. The tooling, casting, painting and packaging is all done in-house. They are fully committed to customer service and quality. They strongly believe that shipments must be made in a timely manner, and they will provide you with a good quality product.
Congrats on the new adventure! Btw it sounds like they've got a few other things in the works right now too, including teardrop ice jigs.
An IN company:
> "...an industry-leading supplier of stainless steel hardware, ladders, electronics, and plastics for recreational marine applications. As a standalone division of T-H Marine, Heartland will continue to operate at its current facility in Angola, IN."
T-H Marine is always making moves. πͺ
With its acquisition of Recur Outdoors. Catch Co. is best known for its commerce brands Mystery Tackle Box and Karl's Bait & Tackle.
...in boats, but have you ever thought to use it as a fish-house floor?
Or how about a SnoBear? And pls give an extra gold star to whoever added the fish-ruler:
And of course in boats. Here's Liebel's Guide Service showing that a little scrub-a-dub-dub has her ready for the ball:
Super cool! AquaTraction isn't a Target Walleye sponsor, but I'll call-out cool new products anytime I see 'em. Keep killing it, fellas!
The spring walleye run there is no secret...but the fall run can be some incredible fishing too. As temps drop, more and more emerald shiners will pile along the south shore of Lake of the Woods and push upriver from the main lake...walleyes aren't usually far behind.
Crow Wing County.

This is an old AnglingBuzz video that was recently "recycled" on the social mediaz, so had to give it another watch. Still a ton of really interesting info with James and Al Lindner talking about the fall turnover and where the bait/walleyes go. Worth a listen:
"And here we have the mythical walleye."
Obviously gotta read the rest of this in your best Steve Irwin voice:
"This fabled bottom-dweller rarely shows its face thru the hot summertime months, opting to remain dormant and elusive to predators above. One bite from this feisty bugger and even the strongest nightcrawler will be dead in less than 10 seconds. Really, reeeeally incredible creatures we have heyah."
- Hahaha I had to have a little fun with the caption after FINALLY catching one of those mythical creatures 6 hours into the fishing day:
Any of your fishing buddies fit the description?
Hope you get to dust off that fishing gear this weekend!
> "Josh's mom doesn't even like walleye fishing (big bass fan,) she just shows up in our boat every once in a while and catches 30 inchers like it ain't no thing."

Who is Target Walleye
Target Walleye β walleye during open water and all species during hardwater β is brought to you by Al Lindner, Jim Kalkofen, Jay Kumar, Brett McComas and other diehard fish-heads like you!
Brett McComas is the main man for Target Walleye He was discovered in Brainerd, MN after years of wondering how in the heck people break into the fishing biz. He's in it now, but still can't answer that question.... Brett is one of those guys who majored in marketing, only because there was no such thing as a "fishing degree" at the time....
