Reliable Controls Provides Management Support in Argentina
Meet the Team!

We’d like to introduce you all to one of the newest members of our team, Brett Boyer! Brett joined us as an engineering intern in March of this year, and after quickly showing us his skill and dedication, we invited him to sign on as a full-time Control Systems Engineer in June 2017. Brett graduated from the University of Utah in May 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering. We are excited to have the opportunity to guide and mentor Brett during these early stages of what is sure to be a promising career in this industry.

As a student, Brett worked in the university biology department installing and maintaining environmental sensor networks in Red Butte Canyon. He explained that his biggest strength as an individual is his desire to learn and understand, which is why he appreciates the environment at Reliable Controls Corporation. He told us, “Reliable Controls is an exciting place to work because it exposes you to an ever-changing set of challenges. No two projects are identical, which forces you to develop a diverse skill set.”

Outside of work, Brett spends the majority of Spring and Fall rock climbing in the Wasatch, until the first snowfall when he trades his rock gear for skis. We asked Brett to tell us one fun fact about himself, and though he struggled, we did manage to find out that he didn’t break 100 lbs until his Freshman year of high school. Even though Brett was a teeny tiny kid, he’s made some pretty big accomplishments and sends a huge ‘thank you’ to his parents in Reno, NV for their endless support.

We’re always interested to find what inspires the talented individuals who choose to work with us; Brett gave us some perfect insight, “I’m inspired by the feeling you get when you work hard on a project and get to see a satisfying result. I love the sense of accomplishment you feel when you see the culmination of long months of dedicated effort and the new skills you gained while working on such a project.” We love that answer, Brett!

And while he always strives to achieve outstanding results, Brett reminded us that life is short, “work hard,” he said, “but don’t forget to spend ample time on your relationships and recreation.”

Thank you so much for sharing, Brett! We’ve enjoyed getting to know you and look forward to a bright future with you at Reliable Controls!

Tips on how to treat and avoid heat exhaustion!
We have been experiencing record temperature highs all over the country, making heat exhaustion even more of a potential hazard. It's important to be able to recognize the symptoms of heat exhaustion, as well as know how to prevent yourself from getting to that level.

Heat exhaustion is usually a result of dehydration, or losing too much fluid, sodium and other minerals. The risk of heat exhaustion increases when the relative Humidity is 60% or higher or the heat index is over 90 degrees. Also, living in an Urban area with
atmospheric conditions or poor air quality can make you more at risk for heat exhaustion.
Health conditions such as heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes, as well as medications like diuretics, sedatives, tranquilizers and stimulants will also make you more sensitive to becoming overheated.

Symptoms of Heat Exhaustion:

  • Confusion
  • Dizziness
  • Fainting
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Muscle/Abdominal Cramps
  • Nausea/Vomiting/Diarrhea
  • Pale Skin
  • Profuse Sweating
  • Rapid Heartbeat

Treatment for Heat Exhaustion:

  • GET OUT of the heat
  • Get to air-conditioned room
  • Drink plenty of fluids *avoid caffeine or alcohol
  • Remove tight or unnecessary clothing
  • Take a cool shower or bath
  • Apply other cooling measures *i.e. ice towels or fans

Prevention for Heat Exhaustion:

  • Wear Lightweight Clothing that allows evaporation for perspiration off the skin
  • Wear Loose-fitting Clothing
  • Use Sunscreen (SPF30+)
  • Drink Extra Fluids, include sports drinks or lightly salted water to maintain healthy sodium and electrolyte levels
  • Prior to moderate to intense exercise, drink 17-20 ounces of fluid
  • During exercise, consume another 7-10 ounces every 20 minutes

At Reliable Controls Corporation, we are always looking for ways to improve. We developed PlantSight, a cloud-based management platform, to help streamline Engineering, Construction, Commissioning and Maintenance processes.

PlantSight is a fully customizable paperless tool used to replace traditional tracking methods. This application, compatible with Apple, IOS and Windows devices, allows industrial and manufacturing facilities to manage punch-lists and inspections seamlessly and efficiently. With a simple touch, technicians are able to upload pictures, make red-line edits, add punch-list items, attach other documentation or even sign documents in real-time.

As a cloud-based technology, PlantSight immediately connects managers and supervisors to important information for correction, recording and accountability, saving time and money, and eliminating the risk of lost information. Through the syncing feature, all project parties are alerted any time an update or report is issued. This helps manage work-flow, reports and scheduling in real-time while keeping everyone informed, whether in the office or in the field.

Each user’s action is marked with a name and time-stamp, encouraging a high level of accountability and forming a reliable audit trail. The software is able to gather data from several sources at varying times, integrate it into one data source and make it accessible for multiple users.

PlantSight can be customized to meet any company’s unique needs. From large facilities to small contractors, PlantSight is designed to be molded into a direct reflection of what your facility needs. For more information on PlantSight or to schedule a demo, visit Plant-Sight.com.
