Women's History Month: Recognizing a Few Women of AmPac
|
The month of March is designated as Women's History Month, a month observed annually since 1987 for commemorating and encouraging the study, observance and celebration of the vital role of women in American history and contemporary society.
Women's History Month is an important time to recognize contributions both large and small that have changed our lives for the better.
AmPac is excited to spotlight a few of the amazing women who are part of the AmPac team!

Janine Warren, EVP, Business Development and Sales
|
How do you contribute to AmPac's vision to advance entrepreneurial dreams?
The SBA 504 is the best financing option for small and mid-sized businesses to purchase, construct, improve or refinance their business property with a low down payment and low fixed interest rate. As the EVP of Business Development and Sales, I truly enjoy educating business owners, lenders, and other business advisors on the benefits of the 504 program and AmPac's other Community Lending small loans. It is truly rewarding to work with a business owner to purchase their building when they never thought it would be possible. I work with our phenomenal team of five 504 Business Development Officers to support their efforts to market, generate and close new loans that advance the entrepreneurial dreams of our clients.
What do you love to do when you're not financing and fostering small business success?
I enjoy going for walks and doing some baking. I like to listen to motivational books and catch up on the news by reading articles with a focus on business and economic issues and policies that impact our region and nation. My husband and I enjoy spending time with family, especially our 6 year old granddaughter. We also enjoy our time at home with our dogs and working on various home projects. When we can get away for a quick trip we enjoy going somewhere along the coast; the ocean air calms me.
What is your favorite quote from a woman leader or the woman who has inspired you the most?
I don't really have a favorite quote. There are so many that I like. This one is from Ruth Bader Ginsburg who I greatly admired as a strong and intelligent woman with a legacy of fighting for women's rights and equality.
"Women belong in all places where decisions are being made. It shouldn't be that women are the exception."

Lakisha Gant, EVP Loan Integrator

How do you contribute to AmPac's vision to advance entrepreneurial dreams?
I am a new employee to the AmPac team and look forward to leveraging my industry experience and expertise in advancing entrepreneurial dreams.
What do you love to do when you're not financing and fostering small business success?
My favorite pastime is spending time with my family and traveling. My daughter just turned 14 and in the blink of an eye she will be off to college! It's very important to me that we maximize the time we have together before she is off into the world!
What is your favorite quote from a woman leader or the woman who has inspired you the most?
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". This is a quote from the Bible that my Grandmother has said to me since I was a child. She wanted to instill in me the importance of treating people the right way regardless of how they may treat you. My Grandmother was very instrumental in my life and was one of the strongest women I have ever known. Born in the late 1930s, she endured and overcame many trials and tribulations in her life. However, regardless of her circumstances, her faith never wavered. I can honestly say that without her, I wouldn't be the woman that I am today.

Jennifer Salazar, Loan Administrator/Loan Portfolio Manager
|
How do you contribute to AmPac's vision to advance entrepreneurial dreams?
I contribute to AmPac's vision in the capacity of a Loan Administrator/Loan Portfolio Manager, working with a set of highly skilled team members in our Processing, Closing and Servicing departments. It is a privilege to work closely with small business owners during the application stage through funding, while further supporting them when their loan has transferred to our Servicing Department. The relationships built through the years with our clients has been one of the greatest rewards working with AmPac. We want our clients to know that we are here for them at all stages of the loan process. It is our desire to be our clients' first call, whether it be to celebrate their growth in facilitating a loan to purchase their commercial real estate or they are calling to share they are facing a difficulty that we may have an opportunity to help with. I have the honor of participating with the client and our team through the beginning of the loan through the life of their loan with AmPac.
What do you love to do when you're not financing and fostering small business success?
My greatest joys are my family, children, and grandson. To me there is nothing better than getting together being surrounded by love and laughter. When I am not with my family, I enjoy reading my Bible, spending time with God and encouraging & uplifting others. I also love to shop, enjoy a good meal with great company and bird watching. There is something about a bird with beautiful colors appearing out of nowhere that instantly takes me to a happy place. I enjoy listening to rain fall and even more so, I enjoy the blossom a wet winter brings in the Spring.
What is your favorite quote from a woman leader or the woman who has inspired you the most?
One of my favorite quotes from a woman leader is from Mother Teresa, "Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love." I believe it is those small things with great love that make the biggest difference in the lives of others. If we can share love, we are in fact doing something great!

Julie Silvio, Underwriter
|
How do you contribute to AmPac's vision to advance entrepreneurial dreams?
AmPac's Underwriting department is dedicated to practicing "underwriting with a heart" while being prudent. We work closely with many partners (BDO's, processors, third party lenders as well as the client) to make entrepreneurial dreams come true.
What do you love to do when you're not financing and fostering small business success?
Traveling with my family is my greatest joy. My husband, Eddie and I are so blessed to have three kids who are so fun to be with and have bright futures ahead.
What is your favorite quote from a woman leader or the woman who has inspired you the most?
"If your actions create a legacy that inspires others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, then, you are an excellent leader." ~Dolly Parton
This quote speaks to me because everything truly starts with a dream and is followed with action. I believe the foundation of AmPac was once a dream.

Statement by SBA Administrator Guzman on President's Fiscal Year 2024 Budget
WASHINGTON – The Biden-Harris Administration today released the President’s Budget for Fiscal Year 2024. The Budget details a blueprint to grow the economy from the bottom up and middle out, lower costs for families, protect and strengthen Medicare and Social Security and reduce the deficit by ensuring the wealthy and big corporations pay their fair share — all while ensuring no one making less than $400,000 per year pays more in taxes.
“President Biden’s budget isn’t just about numbers — it's a reflection of his values. This proposal expresses the Biden-Harris Administration’s deep belief in realizing opportunities for all to achieve and live the American dream of business ownership,” said Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman. “Small businesses are the giants of our economy, and the source of our most innovative and important technological, cultural and social advancements. Yet, while many entrepreneurs are already rebounding from the pandemic, others — particularly those in underserved communities — are still struggling to recover. That’s why this budget is so essential to American small business owners. It not only addresses some longstanding barriers to accessing capital, it also provides additional support and resources they need to thrive.”

California Storm Victims Qualify for Tax Relief and Deadline Extended
|
IRS News Release
WASHINGTON — California storm victims now have until May 15, 2023, to file various federal individual and business tax returns and make tax payments, the Internal Revenue Service announced.
The IRS is offering relief to any area designated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This means that individuals and households that reside or have a business in Alameda, Colusa, Contra Costa, El Dorado, Fresno, Glenn, Humboldt, Kings, Lake, Los Angeles, Madera, Marin, Mariposa, Mendocino, Merced, Mono, Monterey, Napa, Orange, Placer, Riverside, Sacramento, San Benito, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, San Mateo, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tehama, Tulare, Ventura, Yolo and Yuba counties qualify for tax relief. The current list of eligible localities is always available on the Tax Relief in Disaster Situations page on IRS.gov.
The tax relief postpones various tax filing and payment deadlines that occurred starting on January 8, 2023. As a result, affected individuals and businesses will have until May 15, 2023, to file returns and pay any taxes that were originally due during this period.
This includes 2022 individual income tax returns due on April 18, as well as various 2022 business returns normally due on March 15 and April 18. Among other things, this means that eligible taxpayers will have until May 15 to make 2022 contributions to their IRAs and health savings accounts.
