Religious Diversity Journeys Returns to
In-Person for the 2022- 2023 School Year
InterFaith Leadership Council's Religious Diversity Journeys plans to return this school year to in-person, immersive programming for our 21st year.
Metro-Detroit seventh graders experience five field trips to local houses of worship including Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, and Jewish, then, visit one local cultural institution: either the Detroit Institute of Arts or the Zekelman Holocaust Center, between the months of October and May.
The RDJ experience builds connections for middle-schoolers by bringing together diverse students across Metro Detroit and engaging them in multiple prominent faith traditions.
Registration is closing soon. If your school is interested in participating, please register here.

IFLC Presented: "Guru Nanak, The Founder of Sikhism"
The InterFaith Leadership Council of Metropolitan Detroit presented a documentary about Guru Nanak, founder of the Sikh religion, on Sunday, August 28th, at the West Bloomfield Library.
The documentary "Guru Nanak, The Founder of Sikhism", was well attended by members of IFLC and our community.
Harjot Kaur and Jusnoor Kaur provided insightful conversation after the movie on topics including:
- The application of Guru Nanak’s message in our lives; Including serving others.
- Protecting the earth and equality of all creation
Harjot Kaur explains "Sikhism is not a theological law of centric faith. It gives due place to the variations in human psychology and human conditions."
The IFLC is grateful for the West Bloomfield Library hosting the documentary. The staff was helpful in accommodating our arrangements.

The Tanenbaum Center for Interreligious Understanding has graciously extended an invitation to a virtual screening of the film, Refuge on September 13, 2022, at 6:00 p.m..
The Refuge is the story of a former White Supremacist who uses the power of intentional conversations to find healing from the people he once hated – a Muslim heart doctor and a community of refugees. The film demonstrates the power of entering challenging conversations to debunk stereotypes, build understanding, and eliminate hate.
Following the screening, we will be joined by the film's subject himself, Chris Buckley, in conversation with Tanenbaum’s close friend and another former extremist, Arno Michaelis.
