Kindergarten-2nd Grade Update:

We began class in the sanctuary with Havdalah and songs of praise through Hallel for Rosh Chodesh, led by Rabbi Baum and teaching assistant, Jess Fele. Returning to class, we worked on our Hebrew notebooks. Our letters this week were Pay, Fay, Tsade, and Koof. When we return to class on May 15 we will finish up our notebooks and bring them home with us. We took down our "mitzvah leaves" and brought them home to share with you. Ask your child about all of their mitzvot this year!

We received a big Magen David with our picture on it as a reward for being excellent students. As a special treat, we worked on Jewish holiday puzzles and had fun practicing our Hebrew letters on the whiteboards.

While this was Miss Jo's last day with us this school year, due to a medical procedure she is having, our class will continue until May 22 with a fantastic substitute - Rabbinical Student, Paige Beame. Miss Jo is giving her the lesson plans so that class can continue uninterrupted. We wish Miss Jo a speedy recovery, refuah shlemah!!!!

Please mark your calendars for our end-of-the-year Shabbat Service on Friday, May 20. Don't forget to RSVP (below)!
3rd-6th Grade Update:

Each Sunday morning class begins with the Havdalah service and 'Shavuah Tov'. Since it was Rosh Chodesh (New Month), we sang songs of praise through the Hallel Service, led by Rabbi Baum and teaching assistant, Jess Fele. We also reviewed and sang our new Niggun for our service on May 20.

Students learned about Parshat Kedoshim, “holy things.” After reviewing some of the mitzvot that are emphasized in the portion, the students explained some of the mitzvot in their own ways. Each of them described what it meant to honor your parents, honor the Sabbath, and treat others with equality. Ask your child which mitzvah stood out most and how they would define it.

HEBREW
In Hebrew, ALL the students in the older Hebrew class have completed the Alef/Bet book! They are continuing to practice and reinforce reading and singing prayers, working on L'cha Dodi, Shema V'ahavta, Chatzi Kaddish, and Bar'chu. The younger class is learning new letters and vowels in their Hebrew book. They practiced L'chu N'ran'na, Shiru L'Adonai, Yism'chu, and Or Zarua-getting so much better at recognizing the Hebrew letters in words! Both classes are able to find and point out Hebrew words as we are continuing to 'grow' our Hebrew Root Tree-adding new 3 letter leaves. All of these efforts are leading toward our End-of-the-Year Shabbat service on Friday night, May 20. Please RSVP below and join us!!

'Remember' (zayin-chaf-resh) to have your child show off their Hebrew reading skills and accomplishments!
