Kindergarten-2nd Grade Update:

We began our study of Passover by watching an animated video about the story of Moses and how he led the Israelites out of Egypt. We had fun coloring and creating a 10 Plagues Wheel. Next, we acted out each of the plagues which included: putting on a band-aid when we explained how Gd changed the water into blood, hopping around the room croaking "ribbit" as we reenacted the plague of frogs, pinching our skin to recall the plague of boils, and closing our eyes and shutting the classroom lights to simulate the plague of darkness. We used a study sheet to discuss each of The 4 Questions in English and what they represented. Then we chanted The 4 Questions together. Our "homework" is to practice chanting The 4 Questions. Next week we will learn about the Haggadah, the importance of the seder, and how to set up the seder plate.
3rd-6th Grade Update:
On Sunday, students reviewed the story of Passover and shared their family traditions.

On Tuesday, students learned through Parshat Metzora how a person who is recovering from illness is purified through prayer and mikveh.

HEBREW
We began our time together practicing Hatikvah, Ani Ma'amin, and Eili Eili for the CSK Yom HaShoah program on Wednesday, April 27 at 7 PM. We're getting very proficient as we can almost sing them without looking at the words! We then spent our class time on Sunday and Tuesday concentrating on Passover. The students have been reading and singing prayers and songs using the Haggadah. We've almost perfected the 'order' of the Seder using the various motions. We reviewed the blessings-Candles, Wine, Shehecheyanu, Karpas, and Yadayim, adding Matzah and Maror. We've been focusing on The 4 Questions, which are sounding amazing! We like to sing Avadim Hayinu, V'nomar L'fanav with the motions, and, of course, Dayenu

FYI: All the students brought home a Haggadah. This will give them an opportunity to practice their Hebrew reading and show off their skills. Please remember to bring it back to each class session! Students will have to turn it back in after Passover.

As always, keep practicing Hebrew reading at home to reinforce classwork.
