GRADES K-2 RECAP
From Ms. Yenth'l
The students walked into their class and found many colorful Hebrew letter stickers on the tables. Some children realized that they were Hebrew letters! They learned that these letters create words in the language of our people. As an open-ended project, the students chose letters that they were interested in and created unique artworks. Some children wanted to spell their English and/or Hebrew names with the letters, others were interested in the sound a letter made and they drew a picture associated with the letter's sound. A Jewish American program for children called, Shaboom, was viewed to continue our class discussion about Kavod, respect. Kavod is our class promise for this school year. The "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes" song was learned in Hebrew. You can watch it on youtube HERE. You can watch it at home with your child to review the parts of the body in Hebrew. Many of the students stayed for Chaverim Youth Group after school and had a great time
Axe Throwing. You can view pictures HERE.
GRADES 3-6 TUESDAY RECAP
Morah Marla, Alex, and Ms. Koota:
On Sunday, we completed Hebrew assessments and will begin classroom Hebrew lessons next week. We will schedule the additional 30 minute Hebrew lessons after the High Holy Days. The students finished creating their Middot (Jewish Values) passports, and added their interpretation of justice, צדק, which we learned about last week. After school, many of the students stayed for Chaverim Youth Group.

What a crafty day we had at school on Tuesday. Our Torah portion, Ki Tavo, told us about the blessings we would have if we followed God’s commandments, one of which is to provide for the widowed and children. We do this by harvesting the fields but leaving the perimeter unpicked. The needy are able to gather produce without having to infringe on the fields. We enjoyed making paper woven baskets to learn about this concept of pe'ah, leaving the corners. As students look at their baskets, hopefully they will be reminded of the mitzvot that they can do for others,
including bringing in tzedakah or canned goods for
the Jacobson Family Food Pantry each week.
