GRADES 3-6 TUESDAY RECAP

From Ms. Koota and Morah Marla:

Hello and welcome to a new Religious School year of learning and fun! For our first class session yesterday, we enjoyed getting to know one another. We enjoyed a brief conversation about this week’s Torah portion, Shoftim, which has the phrase, “Justice, Justice you shall pursue.” We discussed how the Jewish people are a Just people, and that we should look for the good in others and in all situations. We really enjoyed our snack time, which is a casual way to get to know one another. We ended the day learning to blow the shofar. We will practice more on Sunday!

We are looking forward to a great year!

Kulam (meaning “Everyone”) is a curriculum provided by Moving Traditions that promotes shleimut (individual well-being), chesed (connection), and tzedek (just action) for Jewish high school students. Each session features dialogue prompts, games, Jewish texts, and other activities focusing on a specific area of social-emotional learning that resonates with teens and helps them relate to and communicate with one another. Kulam equips Jewish teens to engage in dynamic and authentic relationships to think reflectively, act courageously, and develop healthy and caring communities. Kulam will meet monthly after Shabbat services for Lunch & Learn with Rabbi Baum and our facilitator.

In addition, teens can assist in religious school classes for the younger students as MADRIKHIM/Teaching Assistants. Students will earn one community service hour for each hour working with a younger class.
