K-2nd Grade Update:
This Sunday's class was full of Purim fun. Cantor Yakov began the day with Havdalah and then entertained us with lots of Purim songs and games. When we returned to class, we cut out, assembled, and read together a mini-book about the story of Esther (reviewing what we learned last week). Next, we learned about the 4 mitzvot of Purim. Ms. Jo (AKA Megilla the Gorilla) gave us our shalach manot, holiday bags, filled with goodies, and a really noisy gragger. We had so much fun with the toy figures in our gift bags! When you threw them on the wall, they climbed down by themselves. Wow! We got to play games with our teaching assistant, Simon.

3rd-7th Grade Update:
On Sunday, we learned about Purim with Cantor Hadash through song, video, and a fun musical computer game. Ask your child to tell you about it.
You can also ask your child to pull up the “Bruno” version of Purim on Youtube.
During our delicious hamantaschen snack, the students got to see pictures and a video from our sister school in Zichron Yakov, Israel, and how they are celebrating Purim!

In Hebrew, we continued our study of Purim by reading Purim vocabulary flashcards.
We placed them on our Hebrew Holiday Word Wall so that students could continue to practice reading them.

We also worked on our Hebrew root words – focusing on the root of “Siddur.”
Believe it or not, this led us to the beginnings of our Passover preparation!
We will be focusing on the “seder” for the next few weeks.
Ask your child to explain to you the correlation between the root of “siddur” and “seder” and what they started to learn about Passover.

We had a great time Monday night at the Purim Shpiel. Click below to see all the pictures and videos!
