“Stay home, stay safe, wash up and mask up ” is no longer a new way of thinking... it’s how our summer is progressing. When the Stay at Home order was issued in March, Old Mill Center staff found new ways to provide services and offer resources to help families cope with the new lifestyle.

Here are several links we’d like to share as a refresher for parents, who may be looking for ways to help keep their kids engaged.
Kids live in their own reality, and may not grasp the implications of a “pandemic ” or “virus ” – two concepts that are hard to understand since kids can't “see ” them. Staying in close communication with kids and engaging in healthy family activities can help dispel the mystery about things like masks and social distancing.
Kids just want to feel love and be safe, as this article from healthychildren.org reminds us.

Teacher Donna shared her thoughts:

  • Go on a nature walk
  • Have a picnic outdoors
  • Play spray bottle tag
  • Have a pool noodle “pillow fight”
  • Cook family recipes together
  • Read together (inside or outside)
  • Build an obstacle course
