7th Annual 9/11 Sacrifice of Service Commemoration & Community Resource Fair

The annual 9/11 Sacrifice of Service (SOS) celebration will take place on
Sunday, September 11th to pay tribute to first responders and military members who responded to the 2001 9/11 attacks, promote unity, and increase awareness of local public safety and emergency preparedness initiatives.
“This event is a great venue to honor the heroes we lost during the 9/11 attacks, including our local responders, and to celebrate our local heroes,” explained Martitha May, one of the event’s cofounders who is also the cofounder of the Kitsap Immigrant Assistance Center and La Mesa Redonda. “We are also bringing our community together to raise awareness that we all need to be prepared for emergencies.”
The celebration begins at 9:11 a.m. at the 9/11 memorial at Evergreen Rotary Park, 1500 Park Avenue. Speakers include Bremerton Mayor Greg Wheeler, Bremerton Police Chief Tom Wolfe, Bremerton Municipal Court Judge Tracy Flood, County Commissioner Ed Wolfe, candidate for
Kitsap County District Court Judge Shane Seaman, Representative Tarra Simmons, Senator Emily Randall, and Congressman Derek Kilmer.

Kitsap County's response to homelessness will be the focus of tonight's meeting of the Central Kitsap Community Council, which takes place at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7 in person at the Silverdale Library Rainier Room, 3650 NW Anderson Hill Road. Everyone is welcome!
The meeting will feature a presentation from Jarrod Moran, Homeless Encampment Action and Response Transition (HEART) Coordinator of Kitsap County's Housing & Homelessness Division. Following this, he will join a panel discussion with Kitsap County Sheriff John Gese; Doug Washburn, director of the Kitsap County Department of Human Services; and Kirsten Jewell, Kitsap County's Housing & Homelessness Division Manager.

Updated COVID-19 Boosters Arriving this Week

Updated Moderna and Pfizer booster vaccines have been authorized and recommended by the FDA, CDC, and state Department of Health. These new "bivalent" boosters provide better protection against Omicron COVID-19 variants.
- Shipments of the updated boosters are arriving in Kitsap this week. Kitsap Public Health will be distributing orders to local providers. Booster appointments may be limited this week and demand is high. Please be patient as you look for an appointment.

Kitsap Public Health will offer Pfizer booster appointments at its regular vaccination clinics on Wednesday, Sept. 7 and Thursday, Sept. 8 in downtown Bremerton. Appointments are required. Scroll down or visit our clinic calendar for details and registration links.
