Dear BSF, 

Our BSF family has experienced a great loss. On the evening of May 9, BSF Board Chairman Bruce Smith closed his eyes to this world. While we miss Bruce deeply, we are united in celebrating his entry into heaven to join His dear Savior Jesus.

Bruce joined the BSF board in 2001 and became Chair in 2012. He led with grace, wisdom, and resilience. In a recent encouragement to BSF staff, Bruce spoke briefly about Romans 12:1, challenging us with these words:

Bruce will be remembered for his character, his wit, his ministry, and his leadership. But above all, he will be remembered as a man who lived in light of Christ's victory. Bruce's example encourages us to seek God daily. His BSF legacy compels us to pursue God's Word. And Bruce's memory reminds us that each day brings a new opportunity to put everything on the line for Christ.

Join us in Prayer

For decades, Bruce prayed faithfully for BSF members around the world. Today, we ask you to join us in praying for his family. Bruce is survived by his beloved wife Jenny (a former Teaching Leader and Area Advisor), son Martin and his wife Jenni, son Peter and his wife Mairi (a current Teaching Leader), daughter Gillian and her husband George, and eight grandchildren.
