Remembering Charlie Smith, WAP
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Charlie Smith, Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) monitor/trainer . He passed away suddenly Friday, July 10, 2020.

Services will be at 11 a.m. EDT Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at the Bowling Funeral Home, 1704 N. Main Street, London, Kentucky.

A KHC employee since February 2010, Charlie was an expert in building science and a valued resource for the corporation, Kentucky WAP network, and our national partners. He had 16 years of experience in the Department of Energy WAP, seven years as an energy auditor, and 10 years as a monitor/trainer. Holding licenses as a contractor/master electrician; low-, medium-, and high-voltage mine electrician; and HVAC technician, as well as Level 1 Thermography and Master Mechanic certifications and seven Building Performance Institute certifications, Charlie used his expertise to train energy professionals across the country.

But, Charlie was more than his numerous qualifications. Outside of work, he loved farming and his dog. He had a tight circle of farming friends with whom he enjoyed trading farming equipment and cattle.

In lieu of flowers, the Smith family asks that contributions be made to the Charles Edward Smith Scholarship fund. Details on how to donate are pending and will be shared as soon as they are available. Please keep Charlie's family, friends, and colleagues in your thoughts as they go through this difficult time.
