Dear Calflora Community,

On November 6, 2020, Dr. Dean William Taylor died of a pulmonary embolism. Dean served on Calflora's Board of Directors from 2001-2005, and continued to support Calflora's mission after his tenure. We join California’s botanical community in missing him, and we are proud to help sustain Dean's memory through his well-documented botanical contributions.
Dean received his PhD in Botany and contributed thousands of his plant observations and surveys to the Calflora Database to share.

Here are a few of his favorite species:

No single botanist has observed and documented the entire state's flora quite as thoroughly as Dean. The Calflora Database honors Dean and his prolific contributions to botanical knowledge in California.

Sincerely,
The Calflora Team
