Remembering Marc Hayutin
We are saddened by the passing of Marc Hayutin and are sharing the memory and legacy of a dedicated advocate. Marc served the Trust for 15 years from 2004 to 2019 as Board Chair, Board Chair Emeritus, pro bono General Counsel and an Executive Committee member. He led us with wisdom during difficult times and encouragement through celebratory moments. We were honored to learn from his experience, leadership, and relentless commitment to ending homelessness.

We send our condolences to his family during this time and will continue his legacy by always being dedicated to our cause, committed to our residents, and passionate about all we can achieve for our homeless neighbors. You can read Marc's obituary here .
Construction Updates
You will see a lot of construction if you drive by 7th and Wall Street in Downtown Los Angeles. Six Four Nine Lofts and Flor 401 Lofts are future forever homes for 154 people who are currently experiencing homelessness or need affordable housing. Below Six Four Nine Lofts will be three stories of a community health clinic run by LA Christian Health Centers. This combination of homes and clinic space will provide dignified and quality healthcare not only for Trust residents, but for the entire Skid Row community in need.

All Hearts Deserve a Home
Thursday, August 8, 2019
6-9pm
The New Pershing at 510 S. Main Street
Join us for Art for Animals' Sake exhibit, ALL HEARTS DESERVE A HOME, featuring new art by Skid Row Housing Trust art students!

Since 2014, Art for Animals’ Sake has been engaging Trust residents in weekly group art activities. Talented residents draw inspiration from either a photo of an animal or a rescue animal a volunteer brings in. Artists poetically re-imagine the animal in paint, charcoal, and other mediums. Now we want to show off the latest of their latest masterpieces.

Most artwork will be available for purchase!

Join In! Gets Residents Active, Engaged...
and in Yoga Poses!
Every quarter our Resident Services team hosts an event we call "Join In!" The objective is to get residents excited to participate in daily programs such as peer support groups, nutritional cooking classes, writing workshops, and life skills classes, to name a few. At this most recent we focused on physical health with yoga instruction and a few brave people trying acupuncture!

More than sixty gift bags with hygiene products were handed out along with healthy lunches. We look forward to engaging residents in even more health-focused activities in the future!
Skid Row Housing Trust provides permanent supportive housing so that people who have experienced homelessness, prolonged extreme poverty, poor health, disabilities, mental illness and/or addiction can lead safe, stable lives in wellness.
