Our profession and the local government sector operates with the dedicated services of both city staff and many private sector entities and personalities. These personalities become as much a part of the local government community as the city staff. We have lost a well-regarded and stalwart member of our community recently with the passing of Mark Curran.
Many of us worked with Mark when issuing bonds in our cities. He was a constant presence at local government conferences, a huge supporter of the California City Management Foundation, and
ably served on our Board for many years as Treasurer. His decades of work in local government yielded insights and perspective that will not be replaced anytime soon. His developed pallet for fine wine resulted in excellent selections for our Annual Membership Dinners. Mark was there for the work and for the fun.
Mark's passing is a reminder to all of us that life goes by quickly and, as we often advocate, work-life balance is important. You should enjoy life a bit while also being public servants. Please join me in reflecting on Mark's passing and saying a prayer for him that he rest in peace.
Sincerely,
Wade McKinney
