REMEMBERING MAYOR JOE GUNTER
Dear Friends and Neighbors:

Before I get to the content of this newsletter, I would like to take a moment to remember Salinas Mayor Joe Gunter. It is with a heavy heart that we celebrate the life of our Mayor, friend, mentor, colleague and fellow member of Monterey County. Under his leadership, public safety facilities were upgraded, a new library was built, and Salinas was made a better place to live and work. His commitment to the community was showcased by his role as Mayor, his time spent serving our country in the United States Marine Corps, his years as an officer and detective of the Salinas Police Department, the countless volunteer hours he gladly offered up and so much more.

Joe Gunter left a lasting impact on so many people and he will be deeply missed, but he will live on in this community for a very long time. All that I have learned in my time spent with Joe has made me a better leader, which gives me the confidence in knowing that I am the best person for Monterey County District 4 Supervisor. In a time of uncertainty for our country and for Monterey County, real leadership is needed. I will be that leader.

With that, this week I was very proud to announce my most recent endorsement from the Monterey Peninsula-Seaside Ministerial Alliance . I have spent time with their President, Pastor Murray, their Vice President, Pastor Lusk, and their Secretary/Treasurer/Advisor, Pastor Smith, and I am so pleased to have their support and that of their congregations.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July weekend, and as always, thank you for your continued support.

Stay safe. Stay well.

ENDORSEMENT
From the official endorsement of the Monterey Peninsula-Seaside Ministerial Alliance: “We believe that Steve McShane is the most well-rounded candidate in the race and feel that his ideals and values line up most genuinely with those of the Ministerial Alliance and its members.”
SEASIDE ROTARY
I have been a proud member of Seaside Rotary for two years. This week, I had the opportunity to host Robin McCrae from Community Human Services. Robin has done great work with Gathering for Women to bring the first permanent homeless shelter exclusively dedicated to women and families. I'm proud to support this project and serve as a Board Member for Community Human Services.
STATE ORDER
Over the last few months, our county has experienced rapidly evolving change in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. This week has been no different. The state health officer has issued an order for select Monterey County businesses to move outdoors or close, after just recently being allowed to open. This order took effect on July 8th.
YARD SIGNS
It’s almost time for yard signs! If you haven’t already requested a yard sign to show your support, fill out the form on our website by clicking REQUEST A SIGN below. Putting a McShane for Supervisor sign in your yard is one of the many ways you can help my campaign, and I am extremely grateful for any amount of support you can offer.
IN MEMORY
My sincerest thank you to everyone who has reached out to offer their condolences for the passing of my dear friend, Joe Gunter. In a time of grief, your kind words have meant so much.
JOE, YOU WILL BE DEEPLY MISSED.
