Dr. Jerome D. Williams, a distinguished marketing professor who held the Prudential Chair in Business at the Rutgers Business School-Newark and New Brunswick, and who formerly served as Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost of RU-Newark, passed away on January 29 unexpectedly. During a 30-year career in academia, Dr. Williams opened a pathway -- through research and by example -- for minority students to enter the field of marketing. In fact, when he earned his Ph.D., in 1986 from the University of Colorado, Dr. Williams was the only African-American to receive a Ph.D. in marketing in the entire country.
