Hello Stephanie,

This year is almost coming to an end and I can't believe we are already into November. Last weekend I had a great time celebrating not only the USMC Birthday on Saturday, but also my own birthday the same day. It is a blessing to be able to log another year in the books and I look forward to many more in the future.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARINES!!

The USMC Birthday is officially November 10th, and we celebrate our 249th year. Next year we are planning the big 250! If you are a Marine and would like to be a part of the planning, please let me know.

This weekend is full of events for my fellow Veterans. I have included a long list of things below so please scroll down to the bottom.

It is also with great sadness that I inform you the MGySgt Bob Arvin has been promoted to Post Everlasting. He was a good Marine and a great friend. I and many others were blessed to have him in our lives. His visitation is on November 10, which also happens to be the USMC Birthday, with the funeral mass on November 11, Veterans day. You can read his obituary here of this outstanding decorated US Marine Veteran.

Join the Fox Valley Park District for the Veterans Luncheon on November 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Prisco Community Center.

Veterans attend for free, while residents are $20 and non-residents are $25. Enjoy a special program honoring Veterans, with lunch and patriotic music included.

Registration was required by October 28, including Veterans.

In honor of Veterans, on Saturday, November 9th at 9:00 am come meet at the American Legion Post 84 office,1649 Montgomery Road, Aurora and join fellow Veterans for a RUCK MARCH along the Waubonsee Creek Trail.

Bring your Ruck or Backpack and walk with fellow Veterans on this 3-5 mile paved path. This is not an American Legion Post 84 formal event, just an initiative of some of our members for fellowship and outdoor activity. Rain or shine.

The City of Lights Film Festival is hosting a Special Screening for Veterans on Saturday, November 9th at the Aurora City Hall at 4pm, with a reception following at the Grand Army of the Republic.

Join American Legion Posts 84 and 43 on Friday, November 15th, for the Annual DuPage County Toys for Tots Fundraiser.

Bring your family, your singing voice, and your best costume for an evening of fun, entertainment, and giving back to the community.

Date: November 15th, 2024

Venue: VFW 3873 Naperville

Purpose: Toys for Tots Charity Event.
