This Remembrance Day, Markham Arts Council is asking you to take a moment and think about what the sacrifice of these veterans means to you.

Create a piece of artwork (all mediums are welcome) and tag us on Instagram. Don't forget to use the hashtag #lestweforget2021.

The winning entry will get the opportunity to be featured in all our socials and MAC will donate $50 to the Markham Veterans Association on their behalf.

Commemoration and Unveiling of Veterans’ Memorial Banners

This Remembrance Day, for the first time, Veterans’ Memorial Banners will line Main Street Markham in honour of our heroes.

Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti and Members of the Markham District Veterans Association will officially unveil the banners on Friday, November 8, 2019. Each banner features a local veteran, with both former and active service members.

Expand the Narrative - Heritage Matters

While reflecting on Heritage, please look through some of the Articles under the Heritage Matters Website.

You can make a difference to the stories they tell! A donation to the Provincial Plaque Program will help address underrepresented topics in plaque stories around the city, working with communities across the province – urban and rural – and people of all backgrounds to share their stories in their own languages.

To support local artists and businesses during these challenging and unprecedented times, the Markham Arts Council is subsidizing in-person performances by 50% up to a maximum of $300 per performance at local restaurants and businesses.
