New young adult leader looks to future of Jewish Ottawa, building engagement


Oren Baray comes from an Israeli household and brings his Jewish identity to everything he does. He has served Hillel Ottawa for the past 18 months and is excited to take on a new challenge as the Young Adults Engagement and Impact Grants Associate with the Jewish Federation of Ottawa. As he transitions from Hillel to Federation, he looks forward to bringing new social and cultural programming to life for young adults.

A story of survival, separation, and loss during the Holocaust


Among the hundreds of thousands of records stored in the vault of the Ottawa Jewish Archives, is a collection of letters that preserve the story of a family’s efforts to stay in touch during the Holocaust. While many of the letters were never found, a collection of their correspondence is now available for viewing in the Archives.

Voices: Partnership creates cultural hub for Israelis to help build connections


A significant partnership has been established between the World Zionist Organization’s (WZO) Department of Irgoon and Israelis Abroad and the Soloway Jewish Community Centre (SJCC). It aims to create a vibrant, supportive space for Canadian-Israeli and Israeli families living in Ottawa-Gatineau.
