NEW YORK REMEMBERS THE 265 victims of flight 587, 16 YEARS LATER
Today, November 12, 2017, New York remembers and honor all victims that died, and the families affected on the 16th Anniversary of this fateful tragedy.
On the Morning of November 12, 2001, American Airlines Flight 587 bound to the Dominican Republic crashed into the water near JFK International Airport. All 265 victims that included 251 passengers, 9 crew members, and 5 people on the ground died in this terrible tragedy which took the lives of mostly Dominicans and Dominican-Americans. This is the second deadliest plane crash in the United States aviation history, and to many in the Dominican community is very important to remember this fateful plane crash.
In remembrance of the tragic accident of American Airlines Flight 587 bound to the Dominican Republic, all 265 victims that included 251 passengers, 9 crew members, and 5 people on the ground died the New York Community honored last month on October 29 with a permanent street co-naming of northwest corner of 181 Street and Amsterdam Avenue as "Flight 587 Way". This homage will forever honor the lives and memory of the 265 victims of this tragic accident.

Hoy, 12 de Noviembre del 2017, Nueva York recuerda y honra a todas las víctimas que murieron y a las familias afectada por esta fatal tragedia.
En la mañana del 12 de noviembre de 2001, el vuelo 587 de American Airlines con destino a la República Dominicana se estrelló en el agua cerca del Aeropuerto Internacional JFK. Las 265 víctimas que incluyeron a 251 pasajeros, 9 miembros de la tripulación y 5 personas en el terreno murieron en esta terrible tragedia que cobró la vida en su mayoría de dominicanos y dominicanoamericanos. Este es el segundo accidente aéreo más letal en la historia de la aviación de los Estados Unidos, y para muchos en la comunidad dominicana es muy importante recordar este fatídico accidente aéreo.
En recuerdo del trágico accidente del vuelo 587 de American Airlines con destino a la República Dominicana, todos los 265 las víctimas que incluyeron a 251 pasajeros, 9 miembros de la tripulación y 5 personas en el suelo murieron fueron honradas el pasado 29 de Octubre de este año con el co-nombramiento de una calle permanente en la esquina noroeste de 181 Street y Avenida Amsterdan como "Flight 587 Way". Este homenaje honrará para siempre las vidas y la memoria de las 265 víctimas de este trágico accidente.
