Trojan Nation pays  tribute
to Chase McDaniel's memory
The aerial view above, courtesy of  drone imaging by Scott Beutjer, was recorded during last night's vigil to honor the memory of CHS senior and football player Chase McDaniel, who passed away Saturday following a seven-month battle with cancer. The entire Carrollton community and beyond have rallied in support of the McDaniel family and to honor Chase's legacy. Even the Bowdon, Bremen and Rockmart football programs are dedicating their support in tonight's playoff contests. Celebration of Life services for Chase will be held tomorrow at Crossroads Church in Douglasville.

CHS Principal David Brooks congratulates David Parkman after presenting to Parkman a replica of a bronze plaque that commemorates the honor.

'Voice of the Trojans'

The familiar "Voice of the Trojans" will be different next football season as David Parkman, who has called football games for the Gold and Black for 36 years, has announced his retirement following the last home game of the season.

To honor his commitment to Carrollton's Friday nights, Grisham Stadium's public address booth where Parkman calls the games was dedicated in his honor last Friday in the first-round playoff game against Arabia Mountain. With last week's victory, Parkman will man the mic again tonight when the Trojans face Veterans High School Warhawks. MORE

Region champion!
CHS senior Luis Lopez was crowned region champion in the Association of General Contractors of Georgia carpentry competition held this week in Cedartown, beating out 10 other northwest Georgia high schools. Luis and Bryson Owens, right, interns in the RA-LIN and Associates construction internship program, were the two out of the 10 interns to represent CHS. At left is Chris Stone, director of Field Operations for RA-LIN, who also serves as the program's instructor. Plans are for the interns to get ready to compete in the upcoming Skills USA competition series after the first of the year.

School Thanksgiving meals
a long-standing tradition
The Carrollton City Schools Nutrition Program poured a lot of love into preparing Thanksgiving feasts at all of our schools last week. They teams collectively prepared about 1,500 pounds of turkey, 150 pans of dressing, 130 gallons of green beans, 75 pans of mashed potatoes, 12 gallons of cranberry sauce, and several other traditional treats! Schools were recognized for their hard work with CHS receiving the Best Overall Meal and Best Turkey awards. CJHS received awards for Best Potatoes and Gravy and Best Team Spirit. CUES had the Best Dressing, and CES was recognized for the Best Green Beans. CES also received the Golden Turkey Award for best overall experience. Administrators, teachers, and CHS Student Council members did an excellent job of helping serve our staff and students. See more photos on the CCS Nutrition Facebook page.

A week of Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving feasts and other activities formed a cornucopia of delight this week at CES. Check out the CES Facebook page to see dozens and dozens of photos capturing this holiday of gratefulness.
