Green Mountain Region Kick-Off Tour

Registration Deadline: May 7

Greetings!

GMR 2022 Kick-off Event -  Saturday - May 14, 2022

A reminder to register for the GMR's first tour of the season on May 14! The tour will be followed by lunch at the Cafe Próvence. The tour will begin at the Sharon Trading Post [Maplefields] at 5038 Route 14 in Sharon and will end in Brandon. The route is a double gap drive that will take us on some familiar roads with some nice twisty turns and beautiful scenery. Registration is open though May 7. Failure to register will preclude your joining the group for lunch.

To register for the event go to the following website:

The Sharon Trading Post aka Maplefields has parking with gas, food and beverages as well as restroom facilities. In Brandon, arrangements have been made for lunch at the Café Provence (https://cafeprovencevt.com) located at 11 Center Street.

We will begin gathering in Sharon at 9.00am with the drivers meeting taking place at 9.30am. The tour will begin at 10.00am with an expected arrival in Brandon at shortly after 12.00pm.

The route is approximately 62 miles in length and we anticipate a ride duration of 2 hours. We plan to take a brief stop at the half way point in Hancock. Hubbard's Country Store has agreed to make their rest room available. The store has a nice selection and we encourage everyone to show their appreciation. Here's an overview of the route:

Route 14 West to Route 107 West
Route 107 West to Route 12 North
Route 12 North to Camp Brook Road
Continue onto Bethel Mountain Road to Route 100 North
Route 100 North to Route 125 West
Route 125 West to Route 7 South
Route 7 South to Route 53 South
Continue to Route 73 West to Brandon, VT

As noted above, lunch will be at the Café Provence Restaurant at 11 Center Street in Brandon. The cost per person is $35.00 and includes your choice of entrée, soft drinks, taxes and gratuity. The entrée options are listed below. Please be sure to make your meal choices when completing the registration process. If you intend to participate only on the driving tour (no lunch) DO NOT make a meal selection.

 Entrée Choices
   Salade Niçoise
   Grilled Turkey BLT on Baguette
The Café Provence Vermont Grass-fed Beef Burger
Grilled Salmon over Creamy Lobster Polenta
Chicken Cordon Bleu over Garlic Mashed Potatoes

PCA Liability Waiver Form

Consistent with prior practice, a fully executed PCA Liability Waiver Form is required in order to participate in the tour. Every tour participant [Registrant/driver and guest/passenger] must complete a PCA Liability Waiver form.

For Registrant/Driver - you will be asked if you want to complete the Speedwaiver as part of the registration, be sure you have entered your mobile phone number. After you complete the Motorsportreg process, a text message will be sent to your mobile phone with instructions on how to complete waiver process. Given the spotty nature of cell service in parts of Vermont we STRONGLY encourage you to do so before the day of the event.
For your Guest/Passenger - to complete the Speedwaiver please go to the following link on their mobile phone - https://pcagreenmountain.speedwaiver.com/mygjr and follow the directions. The following screen should appear on your phone’s browser.

Note, if you will have a minor (under age 18) in your vehicle the Minors liability waiver form must be completed on the day of the event at the gathering point. The tour leader will have the requisite form.

If you have any questions, please drop an email to [email protected]

Save These Dates -- Upcoming GMR Tours

The 2022 summer tour schedule is coming together and we encourage you to make a note of the following events.

June 18, 2022 - [9.30am - 12.30pm] Green Mountain Region New Member meeting. This event will once again be at the DoubleTree by Hilton at 870 Williston Road in South Burlington. This session is open to all GMR members and will include a breakfast buffet, a dedicated parking area for our own “cars & coffee” as well a welcome to new members and the opportunity to renew existing friendships.  The final details will be shared soon.

July 16, 2022 -  Vermont Automobile Enthusiasts (VAE) Cars & Coffee Porsche Day & GMR Driving Tour. The Cars & Coffee event will take place at the University Mall in South Burlington from 7.00am to 9.00am and will showcase Porsche vehicles. Yes, this is an early start but Brad Kennison is putting together a GMR driving tour that will take place after the Cars & Coffee event. The route is still under development but Brad is planning to end the tour at a convenient location to facilitate the ride home whether you are heading north or south on I-89.

October 15, 2022 - The GMR Annual Meeting and luncheon will once again be held at the Sugarbush Resort. The 2022 business meeting is an important one as we will hold the election of officers in addition to other business. Ann Pettyjohn and Lou Krieg are planning a driving tour to Sugarbush from the Burlington area and we hope to have a similar tour from south central Vermont.
Welcome New PCA Members!

No new members since last Mountaineer a week ago.

Name Tags: We recommend that new members and their spouses or partners purchase "official" Green Mountain Club name tags for use at all GMR events. Please email [email protected] to request them for you and your spouse or partner, and our treasurer, Christina McCaffrey, will try to get them for you in time for the next event. The cost is $20.00 per name tag.

Want your spouse or partner to get these
Green Mountain PCA Newsletters?

When you joined PCA (recently or forever ago) you no doubt listed your partner or spouse as a co-member. Many co-members however have not provided their email addresses. If your spouse/partner would like to receive the Mountaineer as well as yourself, have them call PCA HQ at (410) 381-0911‬ and give PCA the information. It only takes a few minutes as PCA is very efficient. That way you both will receive The Mountaineer and other pertinent club emails.

If your co-member remembers his or her co-member login (it is separate from the main member) you can do it that way too-- but calling is probably the quickest.
Member Feature:
Send us your photos!

We have started a feature highlighting a different member in the GMR Mountaineer with his or her Porsche. If you would like to be featured in future newsletter please submit some photos of you and your car along with a paragraph or two explaining why you joined the GMR, your favorite drives or whatever!

Please reply to this email with your photo and information.
