Reminder: City Vacant Lots Sale / Rehab Grant
View as Webpage January 9, 2023
Greetings!

From State Rep Sonya Harper:

As your state legislator, I wanted to bring to your attention the upcoming vacant lot sale in the city of Chicago. This is a great opportunity for individuals and organizations to purchase and transform underutilized land into vibrant and thriving community spaces. I have also included a separate pdf that links to the vacant lots, some are in the 6th district while others are outside of our district.

To qualify for the sale, interested parties must meet certain requirements set by the city. These requirements are included in the pdf below and range from proof of financial capability, budget and development of the land. It is important to carefully review and understand these requirements before submitting an application.
I encourage you to consider participating in this sale and turning a vacant lot into a valuable asset for our community. If you have any questions or need assistance with the application process, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Applications will be accepted through February 3, 2023. DPD will host its last online webinar for potential purchasers January 12th 2023, to answer questions about the process. Priority consideration will be given to adjacent property owners and applicants proposing to build new housing or other improvements that benefit the neighborhood.
Additional City lots will be made available throughout 2023. For more information, visit Chicago.gov/BlockBuilder.

Sincerely,

Sonya Marie Harper

What We Believe
The Coalition of African American Leaders believes that it is important to examine the critical issues confronting the African American community where injustice, inequality and the absence of access and opportunity continue to prevail, thereby negatively impacting us as a people.

COAL is an assemblage that advocates and organizes for appropriate and responsible public policy change, system behavior change and equality of opportunity. We aim to achieve for all of our people the fullness of the life experience without any form of racism or exclusion as a deterrent.

We believe we must prepare ourselves for the opportunity of this full participation, thereby achieving the necessary education and training to participate.
