Be an activist like Libby – join us at WILPF’s Congress!

This year our Congress brings us together to confer widely and strategize at a crucial time — in advance of the elections.  Register now for our WILPF Congress — and most members can qualify for the special lower early rate of $55 for the full Congress! (Members will need the special registration link, provided by special eAlerts, to access that early bird rate.)

Everyone, find full Congress program information and the general registration here.

Be an activist and join us at Congress to help develop and share how WILPF branches and members can influence the elections on many issues and in many ways, without ever endorsing candidates.

Coming so soon after Mother’s Day, this zoom event will honor all the mothers for peace and justice who aren’t content to merely stand on the sidelines and hope for a better future! We’ll offer time for attendees to identify women in their own lives who have been mentors, inspirations, or “activist mother’s” to them.

The late Libby Frank was a mentor and inspiration to author Heather Shafter, who spent the last few years before Libby’s passing co-writing this autobiography: The Life of Libby: Chasing Peace & Justice with Humor, Guts & Passion.

Libby Frank was also a former WILPF board member, part of a WILPF US delegation to Russia, a founding member of the national WILPF Bylaws Committee, a core member of the Middle East Peace and Justice Action Committee for many years, and a long-time Philadelphia Branch leader,

In this zoom Greater Philadelphia WILPF branch leader, Tina Shelton, will interview Heather about her relationship with Libby and her process in writing this book.

Why write about a single peace and justice activist when so many WILPF members’ stories are so similar to Libby’s?

That’s the point. Libby’s commitment to social justice and peace and the sacrifices she made to stand up for a better future for her children and grandchildren are the story of every WILPF member who has ever regularly convened or attended organizing meetings, stood on street corners with signs for a cause they believe in, or even risked arrest for a belief that was bigger than their own life.

Those who believe in peace must learn to organize as well as those who invest in war.
