Dear Parents,

We would like to reinforce and clarify our last communication about coronavirus. As you may already know, the school administration is following the evolution of Coronavirus around the world. With the first confirmed case in São Paulo, several suspected cases in Bahia, and the increase in cases in many other countries, it is essential that we all redouble our care to ensure the safety of our community.  We are basing our response on hospitals and health agency recommendations. Our intent is not to cause parents anxiety or alarm, only to guide our community in doing their part in preventing further spread of the virus.

We kindly request that you reach the school administration by phone or WhatsApp at +55 71 98729-5317 or send an email to before your child returns to classes, if:
  • your family has been to any of the countries listed below in the last 14 days, or
  • your family had contact with someone who has traveled to one of these countries and has a fever and/or another symptom of respiratory illness.

We will provide those who call with up to date resources and suggest immediate consultation with their doctor for advice on testing or home quarantine. The same procedure will be applied to our staff.

The Ministry of Health is now monitoring 16 countries with possible new cases of coronavirus (source: ):

  • Germany
  • Australia

It is never too much to once again remind you of some recommendations from the Health Department of the State of Bahia and from our Infirmary in order to ensure the safety of our children and to avoid contagion in the school community.

If your child is experiencing flu or other viral symptoms, he/she must stay at home and be taken to his/her pediatrician for specific care guidelines. The child must return to classes only after a doctor’s note. Children who are absent due to illness will have their absences justified and the activities of the missed days rescheduled. Keeping a sick child at home will help minimize the spread of infections and viruses in the classroom.

To help prevent flu and colds, please encourage your child to practice good hygiene habits, such as:
  • Wash hands frequently
  • Use hand sanitizers
  • Do not touch eyes, nose or mouth
  • Cover mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing and then wash hands
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick

Our nurses are already guiding their children in the classroom, alongside the teachers. Talk to your children and reinforce the practice of good hygiene habits both inside and outside school.

We have also developed a Pandemic Prevention Protocol based on recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO). All information regarding students' health is classified as sensitive information and only authorized personnel will have access to it.

Thank you in advance for helping your children stay healthy and the whole school community remain safe!
