Reminder: 2018-19 Close Out in NOVA Due Today
Today is the deadline for consortia to close out the 2018-19 CAEP funds and submit the Q2 expenditure report. By today, as part of the Q2 expenditure reporting in NOVA, each consortium will close out by certifying that all members have expended 2018-19 CAEP funds and there is no remaining balance. If there is a remaining balance, NOVA will generate an invoice to return 2018-19 funds to the State General Fund.
If you need assistance completing this process, CAEP TAP is here to assist you. Contact CAEP TAP at tap@caladulted.org for assistance. Additionally, please review the February 5th NOVA Closeout for 2018-19 Funds webinar. In this webinar, we walk you through the closeout process, step-by-step.

Ipolita Yecenia Cifuentes de Leon arrived in the United States from Mexico at the tender age of 15 with a second-grade education. After completing English as a Second Language courses and earning her high school diploma, Ipolita dreamed to go to cosmetology school. However, tuition costs at several colleges she applied to put her dream out of reach until one day at a Los Angeles bus stop. At the bus stop, Ipolita admired a woman’s hairstyle and was informed that cosmetologists at the Abram Friedman Occupational Center were behind the beautiful look. Ipolita soon enrolled at the school and went on to compete in hair styling competitions to showcase her talents. Not only does Ipolita credit CA adult education for opening doors to pursue her dreams, she has appeared at the State Capitol as an advocate.
