Have you paid your 2018 real estate taxes yet? In Florida, unpaid property taxes become delinquent on April 1st of the following calendar year. Therefore, 2018 property taxes that are unpaid become delinquent on April 1, 2019.
This is a reminder that in order to proceed with any filed appeals, 2018 taxes
must be paid before March 31, 2019. Payment is due even if your 2018 case has been heard and a reduction obtained. Your appeal will be automatically denied under Florida law if the taxes are not timely paid.
Fla. Stat. 194.014, which took effect on July 1, 2011, requires taxpayers who file VAB petitions to pay all non-ad valorem taxes and at least 75% of their ad valorem taxes before they become delinquent.
If you have not already paid your taxes, we recommend that you pay 100% of the tax amount due, to avoid owing a deficiency plus interest to the Tax Collector if a reduction is not obtained, no later than March 31, 2019. If the appeal is successful and a reduction is obtained, the Tax Collector will issue a refund to the party that paid the taxes. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.
