Welcome New Volunteers!
It's always great when we can welcome the new volunteers:
Restoration- Elliot DePriest, Paul Armstrong, Howard Guillory and Steve Foss,
Gift Shop- Yvonne Cryns, Diane Chesler!
It's spring time, people are starting to come out of their cocoons, tired of being house bound for the past year. Visitors to the museum are increasing daily and we are open and ready for business! There's always lots of activity. We can always use a few more helping hands here at the museum. If you like to meet and greet people, have stories to share concerning your own military experiences, enjoy classic cars or race cars, we can always use some more docents. Remember, this museum has continued to grow over the past 25 plus years because of people like you. Many people have contributed, not just financially, but more-so with sharing their personal talents and abilities to make this community effort a resounding success! Let us know your interests, experience (or not - we train), and availability at this link.

Restoration Crew Is Rocking the Boat!
Restoration is nearing completion of our Northrop F-5A Freedom Fighter. Never a part of the USAF tactical forces, the F-5A Freedom Fighter has been used as an aggressor aircraft to represent a hostile fighter in simulated combat with U.S. fighters. Some of the characteristics of the F-5A resemble those of the Soviet-built MIG-21 in certain altitude ranges. More info on this aircraft can be found here.
Also nearing completion is the Vought A-7C Corsair II. The Corsair II was designed as a lightweight attack aircraft to supplement and later replace the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk. In addition to service in our Navy, Corsair II's were flown by our Air Force, Air National Guard, and several other nations.

Returning & New at Woodland Auto Display
The Woodland Auto Display welcomed home the #28 Davey Allison stock car after it had been on loan to the NASCAR Museum and Hall of Fame in Charlotte, N.C. (for two years), where it was the center piece when Davey was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. From there, it went to Kentucky for a year where it was on display at the Ranier Racing Museum. We had signage at both locations regarding the Estrella Warbird Museum and Woodland Auto Display. While on loan, is was seen by well over 200,000 visitors to those museums. This racecar is definitely one of the very special racing vehicles in the Woodland collection.
The Jones family is now well represented at the Woodland Auto Display. Parnelli, the patriarch of the family, has had his famous midget as part of the Woodland collection for several years. Several weeks ago, Dick Woodland was contacted to come down to Torrance, CAS to pick up the midget race cars of his two sons, PJ and Page, whom were also excellent race car drivers in numerous classes and types of cars. (The truth is, Dick sent two of his sons, Robert and Rich, to go fight the So Cal traffic and pick up the cars for him.) Just another reason to come on down and see the entire collection!
